i don't think songs should be restricted to compete for 1 year, for example rollin should compete for 2021 and Psycho and Blueming for 2020
Oh yeah, maybe if we are talking abt "Best performing song in year 2019/2020/2021 etc" then yeah, thats probs how it work. I just don't think thats whats OP is talking abt Ig.
i really don't know if its fair to count the weeks you chart in 2021 for your 2020 result though, with that logic Rollin might end up being the biggest song of 2017.
With that logic (not counting the song's performance after it's release year), songs that got released at the end of the year (around Q4) will have a massive disadvantage no matter what then. Also, 'Spring Day' is considered as the biggest Idol song of 2017 mainly bcs of its longevity post-2017, otherwise other song like Twice-Knock knock or Winner-Really Really should take the title imo.
Yall never believe me whe I say it so surely yall will believe him.

Lol, he said that before BTS debut and even before BTS were being formed.
not sure about the longest but it’s definitely the strongest
five years at the top of everything, literally. they have the best digitals, the best physicals, the best streaming numbers, the most awards, the biggest global fanbase and recognition... no group in the past has come close to the magnitude of their power and achievements no matter how big they were in their prime. it’s impossible to compete with the gods of kpop
This. Also, whats more impressive to me tho, is how they're still rising and beating their own record in every metric possible, from physical to digital. Cause from my observation, other previous Top Groups will start stagnating or even declining after 3-5 years of being on top. Like, they were still on Top but their physical/digital number stayed the same/declining. While for BTS it's always an upward trend each year, for the past 7 years.
Does that mean someone else did it 3 times ? I can't remember another group accomplishing that kind of thing tbh (maybe Twice (2016-2018)/BP (2018-2020)?)
Afaik, yes, 3 years in a row for Twice (2016-2018). BP didn't get any PAK in 2019 tho if I'm not mistaken, but they get PAK for 3 non-consecutive year (2016,2018,2020). Cmiiw.
K-pop fans have been hating on BTS and token stanning western artists who have even a small competition against BTS so we're used to it. Nothing new. Same old same old
Lol so true
Didn't pay attention to it before. But wow, the number of dislike are surprisingly low.
so op really made the thread, didn't add a poll and left, lol
Hopefully, OP is busy streaming & enjoying Butter
It's not going to flop anywhere for sure because BTS is on a league of their own. But is it a bop??
For me its a bop, I've been getting into BTS lately and discovered their immaculate discography
Make a poll OP
BTS - Whalien 52, I believe Whalien isn't a word from any language tho lol
Is it those two? Or some other group? Or multiple groups combined? Vote below!

3 out of 5 are BTS related, so I guess BTS?
That's true but I thought the same for Fiction
I'm not surprise tbh. 'Fiction' is a Non-Big3 song, and BEAST is not that big internationally even during their prime. I bet a lot of current Kpop fans didn't know Infinite-The Chaser or Hyuna-Troublemaker as well, eventho both songs were pretty big.
Display MoreSolo artist are OBVIOUSLY preferred over groups.
- Cheaper to producer
- Likelier to succeed
- Solo artist make more money in the west.
- easier for to write and produce music for
Also if they do make groups why not GG?
I think thats an old narrative. And imo, before BTS blow up, all big Kpop companies have that same mindset as well. As you can see from 1st/2nd gen Korean artist that got pushed in the west : BoA, Rain, Se7en, Wonder Girls, SNSD (during the boys era kinda), CL, and post GS PSY maybe. Notice how all of them are either a soloist or GG. We barely saw SM pushing TVXQ or Super Junior in the west. The same with YG with Bigbang or JYP with 2pm.
So I think Kpop companies have the same opinion as you (back then), that Soloist and Girl Group have bigger chance of success in the Western market (tho none of them actualy worked in the end). Which is ironic imo, cause the first Kpop artist that finally have an actual career in the western market is a Boygroup that have a lot of member, wearing make up, and only have one English speaker.
