SNSD dominated Digitally and Physically in Korea among GGs and had some moments as the highest selling artists regardless of sex.
I can't find chart postions for H.O.T. so i don't know if they topped anything.
BTS is surely the group that did it for the longest time, though very unlikely to be the first one.
If you talk about generations, it's not that impressive as there is only 4 generations of kpop, one being very recent. Taking clear timestamps like years would be better, as BTS still has the longest and you could compare to other artists.
It's not worse. The fact that they are the first generational dominant group is enhanced by the fact that they've kept at it for so long.
No group had total dominance for more than 1 year at a time (I can honestly only think of SNSD in 2010 and SG Wannabe in 2004), but BTS has done it for 3 years now and is going on 4.
The fact that BTS is the first and only act to ever win ALL Daesang from a year end awards show kinda prove and support the idea that BTS is the first K-act/group to ever dominate (become #1) in both physical & digital imo, whether we are talking abt long term or short term (yearly) basis. And yeah, the closest to them is probs SG Wannabe, they won both Album and SOTY Daesang at MAMA in 2006. I'm not too sure abt pre-2006 tho.

I still see IU winning SOTY even with the new criteria tho
See, IU has the best digi point for the first 30 days so far (by a large margin). I don't know the exact time period GDA is using for their calculation tho.

1st Gen doesn't have much available for i-fans, but shout-out to g.o.d! One Candle, Lies, To Mother, and Road were all huge in the early 2000s.
2nd Gen
3. SNSD
3rd Gen
1. BTS
2. TWICE
3. BLACKPINK
4. EXO
Looking through this list I just realize eventho digitally GG are stronger than BG in general, the best performing group digitally from Gen 1-3 are all BG. Kinda funny and ironic ngl.

BTS have changed my perception on big numbers or something because I thought this isn't that much.
It must be because I'm more used to their touring incomes than cfs lol
Mte lol. But then, I remember this BTSxMcD collab is a short term deal right? Probably only 3 months max of partnership. So, I guess $9M for 1-3 months CFs deal is pretty good.

not just BG ( I can give an example but it will lead to conflict) but some ggs too
My main point is, afaik the only Korean chart that are prone to Ifans manipulation is Genie. Melon are pretty much not affected (And this thread is talking abt Melon chart).

If thats the case, BG with big/decent international fandom will chart decently on Melon, but almost all of them are flopping (can't even enter Melon Top 100)

I am in awe of how successful this comeback has been for them. They are really a force to be reckoned with! I mean 2 MILLION!? I believe BTS is the only kpop group that has managed to do that so far....this is just crazy wow...

With that logic (not counting the song's performance after it's release year), songs that got released at the end of the year (around Q4) will have a massive disadvantage no matter what then. Also, 'Spring Day' is considered as the biggest Idol song of 2017 mainly bcs of its longevity post-2017, otherwise other song like Twice-Knock knock or Winner-Really Really should take the title imo.
