I'm in a detached house. I've previously lived in a dorm and an apartment. I think I might have lived in a duplex when I was really little, but I don't have strong memories of it.

Did you saw how cities are build in Germany?

Many times old houses who where seen as a villa become apartment buildings or many houses exists who look like long blocks with many doors and each part has their own house number. There are also normal houses who look on the outside as if there would be 1 family living in but than there is 1 apartment per floor. Also comon are buildings where you have shops in it and on top are apartments or a doctor's office etc. We also have something that gets called "townhouse" in English where you have many smal houses attached to eachother. And than there are also houses where you have two halfs so they look often like 1 house with 2 doors and 2 seperate gardens and garages. Than of cause the normal houses and villas. We also have Houses with a "Einliegerwohnung" (Translator said its called "granny flat") where you for example have a seperate apartment in the basement or rooftop that is either used by a family member or people rent it out to someone else. And the bungalow-style is also comon for 1 floor homes with a flat roof.

I live in a building wich has two main entrance doors. Each of these parts has 7 apartments and both sections of the building share 1 backyard and 6 garages (IDK how it gets decided who of the 14 apartments can rent one of the 6 garages, at least my landlord didn't told me that there were garages in our backyard as she showed me the apartment but I figured that my neighbors park their cars in it)

Thats what I mean:

I live in a stylish and spacious villa in a suburb I've been in since my daughter was a baby. I've been here a little over 12 months and it's a house I had wanted for 5 years at the time and I finally got to live in it. I'm happy here.
