Also the audacity of people judging Hybe and BTS for wanting to finally get a verdict on this. Like, this shit discussion has been going on for years and BTS is more than just a boy band. They are still people that have to live with an immense pressure and uncertainty for their future, and they are the most important group for a whole industry and company that heavily relies on them and needs to plan things beforehand which is not possible when bts could be forced to entlist every damn week

Yes, the singular focus on BTS, and on using them in exclusion to try and argue for or against this whole thing, is a huge ass problem. Beside the fact that it inevitably leads to trying to downplay their achievements when arguing against the exemption amendment, the biggest fucking problem is this: it isn't really about THEM at all, but the fairness of this law.

1. BTS has been dragged into this exemption talk through no fault of their own. See spoiler below for a summary of 2018's enlistment debate.

2. AND THIS IS REALLY FUCKING BOTHERING ME: Its MADDENING to witness them feathered and tarred while doing nothing to warrant such treatment except be exceptional accomplished individuals who have brought pride to their country. And this is what they get in return for doing nothing but making their country proud? What the flying fuck?????

What I dislike about all this is the fact people are using this exemption to discredit BTS which makes it fucking annoying

It’s different to say that:

“BTS shouldn’t be given this exemption because it’s mandatory for every Korean man to serve and this whole military privilege should be abolished because it’s unfair for the rest of us”

than to say

“Why should BTS be exempted? They haven’t done anything for Korea and they don’t deserve the privilege at all. The money and success only goes to them and their company ” And the latter is the sentiment I read more often when research and so many other verifiable sources including Korean’s own Ministry of Culture have proven and shown that BTS is an anomaly whose IP actually goes beyond the group and their company to reach the country itself.

I’m already tired from this topic and just hope this decision or whatever finally happens. I bet BTS will enlist and come back and this topic will still be ongoing tswwwwww.

Govt is just dragging the issue and kmedia is having fun getting clicks for their negative articles. BTS are getting undeservingly dragged into this mess, hope everything can be decided before their comeback.

It's impossible to discuss the merit of this law when every side is making it only about BTS

I’m also sadden by this but I remember that BTS has endured a lot since their debut and they always come out stronger. No group has been scrutinised so horribly both in Korea and globally. BTS has never ever been given the easy way. Never. So I am certain, they will find strength in their brotherhood, their team and of course from their ARMY. What ever will happens, I’m sure BTS will find a way to make the best out of this.

We can’t control the vultures, so don’t let them control how we feel and behave. Just let’s support BTS the best that we can.

I wish they were able to speak up more directly in their own defense but I know that would be frowned upon in Korea and cause even more problems. It's very frustrating that they can't even really defend themselves against being dragged.

I just hope the government would abolish any kind of exemptions except for health reasons, so these Knetz will leave BTS alone.

To be honest, I don't t mind BTS enlisting since they're Koreans, but if they get exempted, it's because they deserved it!

However, knowing Knetz! BTS will be trashed and vilified to death. Blame your government, don't t blame BTS!

I'm talking about fans complaining that the proposed criteria isn't selective enough and that it has to be something so exclusive that only BTS could ever have it. These people are also making this bill to be about BTS only. I would understand if their worry was that the bill would not pass in its current format, but they're opposing it solely for the fact that someone else could benefit from it. I actually think BTS deserves an exemption, but the entitled behaviour makes me unsympathetic.

What makes ARMY unsympathetic towards all other kpop groups is that most kpop companies, including the big 3 used BTS' image and their achievements to start and further the conversations. Resulting in BTS getting all the negativity on every end for years now.

So excuse me if we just parrot the companies who themselves showed that only BTS is worth exemting by making it all about them. The companies then crying about too high criterias... why not highlight your acts then. And kpop fans of those groups and companies... why expect ARMY to just go along with it all smiles?

For years most ARMYs, especially on akp and even twitter ones remained silent about all the talks regarding enlistment... because as non Koreans it wasn't our place.

But if the kmedia, k companies, k fans and knetz are starting a smear campaign against BTS... then after trying to ignore the negativity of past years don't expect ARMYs to remain silent and sing kumbaya. That's just idiotic.
