  • It’s just weird to place that much importance on another person’s success.

Like if it was you say partner or parents or yourself or even someone who’s success can open doors for you it would make sense.

Like what is the mind set what do you get out of it? If you like someone and they’re successful and you’re happy for it, that’s fine. But if you like someone because they’re successful while that success has no direct impact on you, it’s strange Kek.

  • It depends. If you like an artist or group only because they are commerically successful, that is superficial.

Nothing is wrong if you like an artist or group and you want them to be commercially successful.

  • It seems hollow. Your follow only because they are successful rather than because of them.

I know a person who for some reason likes to keep track of successful films over the years. The odd thing is he doesn't actually care about the films themselves, just their box office success. He got happy Endgame beat Avatar at the time because it was a massive achievement but if I asked anything about the film itself he barely knew anything. He didn't know half the characters, he didn't properly know what the infinity stones were, he didn't really care that it had lots of callbacks to a decade of movies.

So I asked why he even cares endgame became number 1 of he's not even into it and he simply said it being successful was the reason he went to see it, if it wasn't breaking records he wouldn't even care. He admitted doesn't have much interest in the MCU outside Spider-Man.

    Dude wtf?

  • it kind of implies they care more about their popularity than the actual music, which is because kpop is literally just music...

If only someone like that could also see the cultural significance or impact of movies.

  • I've been called a weirdo for being a success stan.

    This ^^^

I'd stan BTS successful or not, but I do like that they've become successful - I mean, they're my faves, of course I'm glad. It's weird when people imply it's wrong of me to be happy for them.

Majority of them developed some weird type of superiority complex based on someone else’s success and use this to annoy others.

I agree that having a personal superioriy complex over it is weird, but IMO, people throw that term around way too much.

Many ARMY, including myself, get labeled a success stan just for liking BTS and being happy for their success. Like what? Am I supposed to be mad? Should I stan someone else because BTS doesn't need anymore fans? That's not how it works and I'd say there is something wrong with those feelings, not my own.

So you think the term “success stan” is specifically targeted towards Armys?

Because when i think of a success stan I mean those who are only in for the success and annoy people with it. Sometimes even ruining a comeback for other fans because they are not satisfied with the numbers

I wouldn’t consider normal fans who are just happy for their faves sucsess and sometimes brag about it success stans, that’s how it should be lol.
