I'm fortunate enough to stan a group that has both
Being charismatic >>>>>> Visuals for idols

But how many idols have “uninviting” visuals?
Kpop is way more visual focused than charisma focused.
If a person is already good looking enough to become an idol AND is charismatic that’s obviously great but the idol must to be attractive, or they’re not debuting. On the other hand you can debut as an idol and gain tons of fans even if you have mediocre charisma as long as you’re a visual. Charisma is generally treated as secondary to visuals, there’s no denying that
Kpop is attracting more attention and fans because of kpop idols’ visuals than their charisma too. Visuals is one of the main thing the industry is known for, not charisma.

why not have both?

Honestly, I feel like I am attracted to charisma in kpop. But everywhere else it's always kindness for some reason. Like, my crush isn't not the most handsome guy in school and I don't really know him well enough to know if he is charismatic. But I do know he is nice(and that's why I like him, I know kind of pathetic lol). But then again, I don't know him that well.
But for idols it's a totally another case, like I love charisma, passion, personality etc. I do check in kindness from what I can see but I feel like passion and charisma is what attracts me the most.

I've always considered visuals part of someone's charm or charisma, looks contribute to it.
If someone's ugly, it's very hard for that person to be considered charming or charismatic by others.
While someone who's very good looking, it's far easier to be considered very charming or charismatic by others when that person makes an effort.
Which is why you'll see very few ugly looking people among successful sales people.

Except mt fave has both

I disagree.... Visual comes first for many kpop fans

Omg, so many liars in this thread

An idol having both is preferable but personally it's the other way around for me. I can get satisfaction looking at a pretty face even if they are a so called "bland visual" like people accused irene or tzuyu on stage, but if someone doesn't match my visual tastes, i'm not as moved by cool gestures or facial expressions they make lol

I'll take both

Tsuki is both
