We've had our last iteration of badge petition rules in effect for about a month and unfortunately, it has become clear that they are not working as intended and instead counterproductively creating strife. This is across almost all badge types and there will be rule changes announced for those as well, but for now since time is of the essence and February is almost over, this announcement will address how Limited Badge Petitions will be changing.
Going forward:
The Badge Squad has agreed on a new method. For a limited badge petitions to be made, please tag me. There is no poll needed in your thread. Instead an official petition will be made in the shop and voting on it will cost 750 akorns. This price is also a discounted pre-release price and every vote will guarantee the purchaser the final badge. If the petition does not win, 700 akorns will be refunded to each purchaser. If the petition does win, those who did not vote will still have the opportunity to purchase the badge, but at the full price of 1000. There may also be extra badges made for the event, so this is when they can also be purchased as well.
Limited petitions will run for two weeks and will need to be made within the first two weeks of every month. The last week of every month will be devoted to scheduling.
There will no longer be a minimum number needed for the petition and there will be 3 straight winners every month. There will continue to be extras and in most months, 3 extras will be made, but this is subject to the Limited Badge team availability and we cannot guarantee this for that reason. We will do our best though. Extras will be based on priority ranking to give chances to small fandoms, those who do have limited badges as well as extenuating circumstances such as member hiatuses, disbandment, debut, type of comeback etc.
Additionally, we have decided we will not be holding special petitions going forward.
For February:
All previous petitions made for February, holiday or otherwise, have been cancelled and votes will not count. Purchasers of February petitions will be refunded.
Everyone who made a petition is invited to restart a petition thread. No poll is necessary, but you will need to tag me, Ves. Petitions will close on the 7th of March, allowing for 2 weeks of re-voting. If petitioners of regular limited feel that is too short, please wait for March when the regular petition length will run.
For special holiday petitions, the official petition in the shop will cost 500 and purchasers will get 450 refunded if the final is not made.
The FAQ will be updated in the next week to reflect thee new rules plus those that will apply to other badge types. Thank you for your patience as we work to to make the rules fair and equitable.
