I don't submit badges or anything but I miss petitions a lot. I feel a flat 5 or even 3 badges per member regardless of if they bought the petition would be fair? But then again this way incentivizes buying the petition so I see why it is how it is
Tbh I'm more concerned about some members in groups getting no badge submissions at all has that happened yet?

No! This is why we check for interest and the KPOP Themed Badges are tiered. You need at least 15 votes for individual member badges to be made.

Not that I can recall, but if that happens, some members of the badge squad are more than happy to make badges in that scenario!
well i can understand the logic behind this
but by doing this you also penalize people who have life outside of Allkpop and can't come often or have some unexpected things coming in their life, and at the end even if they were interested in the badge can't even really take part in it
without mentionning that some of the people buying petition are most of the times not always people interest in the badges, but user who buy the petition to support their friends and at the end we end up with 2-3 person taking part in the suggestion period on the 30 people who sign up to the petition
and people who were interested but were busy in their everyday life are penalize because they can't suggest as much badge that they want even if they are most interest than someone who bought the petition
Gotta limit polls with 70 options and people submitting bad badges
well in this case you accept the 70 first suggestion and let's be honest we never reach 70 submission
without mentionning the fact that people also often suggest badge who were already suggested by other user
or the suggestion who are too blurry, or doesn't respect the rules to make badge
with all of these you never reach 50 suggestion

KPOP Themed Badge Petitions are open for a full week. The argument about people interested in the badges missing out because they don't live at AKP is a circular one. What if they also miss the badge submission period? How long should we wait? We have deadlines for a reason and unfortunately who were not able to make those periods will miss out. Happens all the time in real life. It's definitely disappointing, but I don't think we're not being unreasonable to put time limits on these things.

But it's not first come, first serve. Those that took the time and used akorns to vote should and will get priority. It is not like we are closing this feature off to others. With only one submission, I would hope people would submit their best according to the rules. Anything that doesn't meet the rules for submission (including by voters) will be discarded.
I think the submissions restrictions is fine. How long is the petition period for themed badges though? Is it a week? Some people only have time to come on akp on the weekends so a full week would be nice. If it's already a week, I honestly thing that's plenty of time. If people aren't logging in at least once a week, what can you do?
I think it would be nice thought to have like a rough schedule or heads up when an event will happen though. Even just... :Coming up in the month of March blah blah events are scheduled." I like a lot of groups. I could prioritize my time better that way. I'm enjoying making badges lol

That's a good idea. We already show the schedule of limited releases so why not?

woooooooooot! Please give me a heads up of when got7 will be cuz I'm totally still learning how to make a gif badge. :D Like, do i need to do it this weekend? I have a couple jinyoung pics ready to go, but I need to look for others. Also, I need to farm akorns. So much stuff!

The petition period is a full week. We definitely wanted to give them ample time. We have a Leaderboard like you suggested, but it is not well monitored. We need to figure out a better way for people to access it. I have it in the sidebar on the first page, in the top navbar menu under forums and also a shortcut on the Badge forum itself. Not to mention it's also pinned when you go into the Badges forum.
Any other ideas?
crystalblues will be hosting them. They won't happen that soon though
This is the Petition Leaderboard guys:
We try our best to keep it updated and indeed edit it multiple times a day...
wait but does it show the dates when they happen? Because yeah they are all listed but it's not like.. will happen on x month x day, y'know? I'm confused help
oops voted on the wrong option

I do check the leaderboard. I find it very helpful and I'm glad you added it :). I was just wondering if there was a rough idea of when the kpop badge events would be. Not an exact date, just like "a, b, c, d, e, and f are tentatively scheduled for the month of March".

Ahh, you're saying we should add a "scheduled" date. I'm not sure that jives with how our Themed Badge Squad does things but doesitneedsaying crystalblues Pikachu-Senpai Rainbowlicious ?
I get it now! See my above post. I wouldn't want to speak for the Themed Badge Squad, so I mentioned them directly.

oh good. i have some time then. I'm sure your badge will win, especially if you do You Calling My Name, which is the one I already suspect will be my fave. But, I just want o be able to submit one or two for Got7. I really love them and there aren't that many aghases here to do it.

I didn't add any dates or ask the team for ones because they need to host the events at their own pace. Hosting takes time and effort and the team have personal lives. So, I thought it'd be better to have them host whenever they are free to.
We do the themed badges usually in the order of successful petition so whichever petition reached requirements first etc. We also tend to post the threads when we have time throughout the week, I know my voting threads sometimes last a little more than planned due to me working our themed badges schedule around my other events. Limited badges are scheduled so that people have more time to gather akorns for them. When we chose the setup for themed badges we started doing it the way we have been because static badges are permanent to the site and would not only be available for a small window like limited. So while in theory we could do it, and schedule events, I want y'all to keep in mind it could also lead to a less efficient process for us as we are going to have to try to scramble our personal lives around the submissions and such to to stick to a strict upload time for the polls and such. We also put the limit on submissions to prevent submissions being submitted by only one user and not leaving any options as far as photoshoots (especially with new groups) for others to use to have an opportunity to submit.
Yes, we definitely try to tag interested parties! I try to post in the associated guild or let at least the leader know.
I’m not sure I understand the issue? When we were building out our NCT member badges, we specifically limited our recommendations for badge options, working through the guild to help narrow the choices down.
1. Because there are so many members, we wanted to make it manageable for people to vote so five options (or maybe it was 6?) were more than enough for people to choose from each member. I don’t think you need 20 options..
2. Having a consistent number and/or a limit also created equity amongst members. I’ve seen a lot of badge events where it’s clear who the most popular members are by the amount of options.
So I don’t see it as a problem that you only have a finite amount of badge choices. Sure it sucks that it may not be one you like, but there’s no guarantee that people were going to vote on it anyways. I can think of badge options I liked that lost to ones I didn’t once everyone is voting. Such is life.
As for the shop, I mean I guess add a few more days to the deadline, but at some point it’s going to have to have a deadline. How long would you prefer they wait here? What’s your rec for a solution?

oh, that was smart to work on getting a consensus in your guild beforehand. Voting probably went super smooth after that.
I think it helped ensure that people who stan a member had a shot of one of their fave badges winning or at least were able to kick out ones they didn’t like when it went to larger voting so they weren’t going to be stuck with options they really hated.
Of course that’s no guarantee! At the end of the day, people will vote for what they want and not everyone will be happy.
I don't make badges, but I know there were seemed to be times before the rule changes where people who weren't even fans of the group were REALLY invested in the polls. And I like a good poll as much as the next person, but I think it makes sense for the people who are most invested in the results to be the ones who get to submit the most options.
And also, if you really care about a specific badge, then it's nice that you have to put your akorns on the line and not just rely on other people to do so for you.
I've been getting overwhelmed by badge notifications the past weeks.
Is this badge season, has there been any changes or renewals regarding badges that are the cause for it? Just curious.
Well, they retired the old badges a while ago so all the groups conceivably will have fairly recently gone through or will be going through the badge process. Also badges were put on hold for a bit while they revamped the rules so there may have been a bit of pent up demand. Lastly, there are new badge categories like albums, so people have been getting those too.
Lol true.... but they're so pretty! :D
