Did Sohye getting proven to be a bully do anything to her career?

    I don't follow Sohye very much, but I remember that her bullying allegations surprisingly turned out to be true and her company was media-playing it, but the police confirmed it was true. Did that do anything to her actress career? While not as popular as Sejeong -- Chungha -- Somi, Sohye had gotten several actress gigs before her bullying scandal came out.

    I remember what I was like and what kids were like back when I was young. Kids fight. They can be mean at times.



    But to make it into a whole career destroying thing years later? Nah.


    On principle I'm against this sort of action of holding one's youth over your head years later.


    I'm old enough to know that the actions and mistakes of youth do not reflect who may grow to be.


    I think a measure of allowance for that is best.

    Combining the claims from A and S&P, it can be seen that Kim Sohye was summoned to two investigation committees on two separate cases of school violence. On one case involving C, Kim Sohye was the victim and C was the perpetrator. On another case involving B, Kim Sohye was the perpetrator and B was the victim.

    I'm a bit hesitant. On the left I do agree with you, however I've seen bullying in Asia, and its a whole nother level. It has to do really, with Confucianism and the idea that people are "better than others".


    I agree that Sohye should still have a career (if her fans still support her since it was some time ago) however it was wrong of her to sue her victim for defamation.

    I didn't even knew she was accused of being a bully, during that time everybody and their mothers were accused and Soojin took the flame with a few actors, likely everybody else failed to grab attention for anything to happen to their career, same as Itzy Lia and the boy groups

    Well, violence is violence and you should know that bullying in South Korea is more than just being mean. Ignorance is a bliss, I guess. The generation excuse is ridiculous and just an excuse to not do something against violent teenagers and verbal abuse. While the older generation are the ones fetishizing verbal and physical abuse and say it makes someone stronger which is not even proved by studies.

    If it did happen as the kid claims then I do agree with you that it's pretty crappy to sue them for defamation.


    I'm just always hesitant on these things.


    I don't like being put in the position to be expected to pass judgment with so little information.


    That's why I hate these public call outs mechanisms.


    They thrust personal things out onto the public sphere where ill informed people without the facts are expected to pass judgment years removed and with no relation to the original grievance.



    In my opinion these sorts of things are better handled on the smaller scale with parties to the incident.

    ugh sohye did endure some pretty vicious comments during PD101 as well; she had to address them on camera and she broke down in tears over it.

    "he or she bullied me while in [school]" is lazy. Pure lazy.

    its clickbait but of the legal world.

    Easy damage, easy to use. Lasting effects.


    I woulda thought that "oh he/she bullied me as a trainee" would be more common because that's a more serious accusation while maintaining the ease or something.


    I still still don't get why people are so toxic over things like this and yet there are still staunch defenders of proven crime. like???


    Embezzlement, sure, Conflict of interest, ok, illegal acts, fine.


    unfounded bullying is a big no no because its been weaponised. people jump on that. In a sense, when you use that excuse and you ask people to jump, they only ask how far.

    Sohye was the best idol I've seen. She was nice, she was human, but most of all she put in the work asked of her, she ground out her spot on her throne.


    Kings and Queens are born and trained into power, but she built the country, the palace, and the throne to get to where some of her peers were.

    (she was a barkin acting company trainee!!)


    She is still a role model to me. Even after all this time.
