wtf?? I really hope he can overcome this, I'm honestly so shocked because I had no idea he had these conditions
Mental health is not an openly talked about topic in Korea despite the high rates of depression and suicide in the country. Unfortunately many Asian countries traditionally just tell people to get over it or pray the depression away.

Ps how can they make him serve when he is receiving prof help for depression and anxiety?
I mean he’s sick!
Well after the whole thing with Leeteuk's dad he has said his depression got so bad that the military actually suggested that he be medically discharged, but he asked to stay. I don't know if he was reassigned because I don't know if he did active duty or social work to begin with. So if it was severe enough it's possible it was considered, also since the social work field is so broad he could even be assigned to something to help him get a handle on things. Like Shownu from Monsta X is working in a child care center.

He has expressed that he’s felt enormous pressure bc of life as an idol.
Also SHINee members lost a member to suicide in 2017.

Taemin has struggled with panic attacks and depressions in the past and had been receiving constant help. I'm sure the pressure that idols need to enlist all the time or they will get negative feedback from the public is why they all just do it. He could have also been fine and the military just made it worse while being enlisted. I don't know how much more demanding the military is other than idol life. But i hope as a social worker he can still receive the help he needs and he will be okay and get healthier. He's only known Idol life for most of his life, there could be a multitude of things going on with him. I just hope that they really are doing great things for him, and helping him to the best of their ability.

He’s so hard hit, poor man

Oh gosh that's miserable. Having dealt with severe depression on and off since I was 11, I really, really feel for him. I'm glad he's getting help and I hope he has a good clinical team.

Aw thank you! I'm much better these days so I have fewer depressive episodes and they're not as severe. Years of therapy and finding the right medication.
-
I honestly don’t know anything about depression or anxiety - it must be horrible.
Glad you can feel better. But does it never go away?

Depends. Some people can get to a point where it might go away completely. Most people will always struggle with it in some way but will learn skills (and maybe take medication) that allows them to manage their condition so that it doesn't have such a bad impact on daily life. In my case, I have Bipolar II Disorder so I'll always need to take medication to help keep my mood stable. The medication can't do it all though, so I use different therapy skills that I've learned to help me at times when the medication falls short.

Yes, in some cases.
