I remember thinking that some males hated on Justin Bieber because they were jealous.

  • I remember thinking this about some of the male Justin Bieber antis were jealous because girls liked him and not them.

But years later I was like "Nah, it wasn't because they were jealous."

And then now I'm like: "There is a bit of truth in this."

Some might have been jealous of him.

Even though I don't think I have been jealous of a female celebrity because guys liked them.

Actually, I didn't know what celeb guys liked.

And I think back then I assumed that most guys my age were perverts, who probably would want sleep with those celebrities.

And I used to be like "sex is evil."

  • There was always an element of toxic masculinity to it. Fellow guys often ridiculed his lack of a traditionally masculine appearance. A load of nonsense, honestly. Many questioned his sexual orientation and/or called him gay in a condescending manner.

Sadly, it was all the hate that drove him into his rebellious, bad boy phase, the one in which he did some questionable things. He wanted to prove the haters wrong — that he’s indeed masculine and whatnot. Do you see how toxic masculinity often transpires in otherwise good-natured males? Mind you he was still a kid at this time. That’s what’s so messed up about it. It gives the impression that young males have to engage in questionable, uncharacteristic behavior to be considered a man.

Additionally, male Beliebers were often stereotyped to be gay. Guys who liked his music often felt compelled to hide it and listen in secret.

  • hate at the start of his career was just unbelievable. like how could you hate a teen age boy this much. I think that hate was the base reason of his irrational behavior and controversies. I am glad that now he has become mature

  • Bieber and his stupid fans got hate in my circles only after what happened to Esperanza Spalding when she won that grammy instead of bieber, previously everyone just agreed that the music was just bad. But those attacks were absolutely horrible. hey, at least that introduced me to one of the most awesome female musicians around.

  • There was definitely jealousy involved, kinda like some girls look at pics of hot girls and need to point out how they aren't all that because they're trashy/plastic. It's literally the same thing don't let people fool you.

  • Yeah, it was definitely jealousy. That jealousy made Baby the first video on YouTube to hit a billion views though.

Like, I get being annoyed with his voice since it was kind of high pitched (Baby was still a whole bop though), but the hate was SO intense literally for no reason. Like if you don't like the guy, you literally don't have to listen to him.

Then he became a douche and made the hate somewhat justified. Now, he's mellowed out some, and he gets the same amount of hate as just about any successful person.

  • The Bieber hate was a terrible time, especially considering he was just a teenager back then. So young.

I was a fan of his early music (My World and My World 2.0 are pop masterpieces T.T still his best albums ever imo) and many dudes hated him and were loud about it, including old a55 guys which was ridiculous, and some girls followed them to get some approval. Sad thing.
