In both cases, BTS did not show up

SM boycotted 2021 Melon Award, because the Senior Singer was the tentpole act, and Aespa, winning a Grand Prize from Melon but not so in MAMA, showed up in the latter.

The whole of the 2021 MMA was set up around the Effective Owner of Edam Entertainment.

The whole of the 2021 MAMA was set up around .... nothing.

Although neither featured BTS, I think for this year only, Melon was superior, although some of you will say that's because it included the singer I write about all the time and MAMA didn't.

Indeed, one bad thing about Korean music awards is that it is mostly an attendance award, and there is really no legitimate authority to judge songs.

Gaon does not select a Grand Prize winner so it is a bit short.

KMA is only watched by very few since they often feature acts which nobody has really heard about before.
