Were you ever worried about them having your real name/contact info? Or that they might be a catfish?
-
No. I will be transparent and say that I don't trust a single mf I meet online with my face, real name, or anything. Most people are literally just out to hurt others, or maybe I'm paranoid, Idk. I was groomed before through an online interaction, thats why I have the strong urge to tell children online to fcking leave and never come back until they have enough of a brain not to trust strangers like that. Okay end of rant
I mean that's understandable. I've met a few nice people, but I've also met a few straight psychos online. It's best to be wary I think.

I'm in the US. This is from my local supermarket.

Yeah it was nice and fun but I regret it now.

No. The majority of them that I've met in person for the first time have been at a concert or a convention or something like that. We exchange real names at that point if everything feels good. So it's a very public and very easy place to part ways if I feel anything strange going on.
The few that I've broken that rule for, I've known and chatted with for probably around a year at that point. It's hard to hide true intentions for that long.

Yes, I dated a guy for 2y and a half, we met on a game forum. He was my biggest love actually haha. But we talked for more than a year before meeting, and we met in public places at first. I also met some people and became friends.
But guys, be careful! Meet them only in public spaces, with lots of people like parks, restaurants, and never-ever go to their houses/cars bcs they promised that „there will be other people/my family will be home too”. That's a red flag.
You can never be sure of that person's intentions or if they are really who they pretend to be. There are lots of people who were hurt by people who they were thinking that are nice persons.

Not through a forum, but my husband and I met in an mmorpg and have been happily married for 6 years now.
I was only 16 when I first met him in real life though which, now that I'm an adult myself, makes me wonder why my parents allowed it. They never said anything. He'd invited me to his place (he's 7 years older than me) and my parents were like, yeah sure, whatever, be home before dark. I could've ended up being murdered and disposed of in a ditch somewhere...

woah do i know this person
Probably not.
(she became one of my closest friends and knows a loot about me and me about her)
