Yes, but that's not the point of my thread. My point is chinese Kpop idols now has to promote the CCP propaganda in order to have a career in China.

China was always powerful, it's just that idols on Weibo happened later on in 2nd gen. Victoria and Fei were both pretty popular in Korea and the first ones to get cancelled over the One China posts, Fei unfortunately doing it at the same time as her solo debut.
I feel it's because the tensions between China and Korea have been escalating over the latter half of decade

I don't think there was a time in our living memory that China wasn't powerful. There would never have been Chinese idols in KPOP if it weren't.
All Chinese idols from every generation in KPOP had to support China if they want a career at home. The only difference was both Korea and the CCP looked the other way before THAAD.
Now, they both hate Chinese idols in KPOP. China's rulers see idol culture as effeminate, degenerate and corrupting to its youth and are actively killing it off. Idols are an evolutionary dead end in C-Ent.
We'll be reminiscing about Chinese idols in KPOP like we do about dinosaurs around five years from now.
Hopefully the Korean agencies will expand from Chinese (and Japanese) foreigners when the Chinese pipeline dries up.

We've already seen where Kpop agencies next market is: The US. Southeast Asia will always be a third wheel for them except for Thailand and maybe soon Indonesia. Japan will be unchanged. On a matter of fact, I feel we will see more localized groups in Japan.

Chinese market is a dead gateway now. Korean companies gave up on them years ago hence hardly any Chinese idols debuting recently compared to the Japanese. Only the Japanese are still preferred for obvious reasons. There’s little to no cultural and political controversies surrounding any of them. Best decision they made anyways…

China has none to blame but itself for it's poor Outlook for its citizens. We here in Korea have grown more and more intolerant of Chinese. Not because we hate the people, no it's almost entirely to do with their government it's policies and unfortunately the behavior their government expects of them in other countries.
A research paper summed up our sentiments here.
"A recent poll revealed a significant shift in the public image of neighbouring countries in South Korea, which could influence presidential contenders’ foreign policy objectives. According to a poll conducted by Hankook Research and the South Korean online publication Sisain, the South Korean people have the lowest opinion of China, with only North Korea and Japan rated higher. While the Moon Jae-in government maintained the policy of strategic ambiguity with its relationship with the US and China., On the other hand, the conservative camp which is in a more favourable position to win has been critical of China and the North Korean regime.
As per analysts, four key incidents have fuelled anti-China sentiment in South Korea: the THAAD deployment in 2017, Beijing‘s response to Hong Kong’s pro-democracy movement in 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, and China’s attempts at “cultural imperialism” in late 2020. In addition to this, Koreans have also reacted decisively against the attempt of the Chinese Communist Party to showcase China’s cultural supremacy as well as claiming some of the cultural symbols of Korea."
As a result of this The current young generation hates China more than even Japan. I wish kpoppies can be more aware of this information right here so they can stop being shocked at why knetz aren’t welcoming of the Chinese anymore lol They think they’re being sinophobic and xenophobic for absolutely no reason. Um…no. It has to do with a multitude of things actually that goes beyond kpoppie comprehension 99% of the time. They’re just outsiders looking in but always want to be on the opposing side of knetz even when it has something to do with their history, culture, and politics.

Most kpoppies want knetz and Koreans to be understanding of other people’s cultures but when it comes to issues that Koreans are facing either within their own country or their neighbors (China and Japan) they want to act like they know wth they’re talking about when they don’t lmao The Chinese have been out here claiming parts of Korean culture for over a year now, is now supporting revisionist history of the Korean War, implemented a hallyu ban in result of THAAD, and then covid happened but Koreans are supposed to not hold any animosity towards them? When you have a people who all share a common history ancestry culture identity and image its quite difficult to find many of them to fundamentally think differently on a subject. Example some would say our more progressive BTS would be more tolorate of Chinese. But in reality they wouldn't if we had a serious conflict with china like a war. All that "progressive" goes out the window. This is exactly how people like Trump got elected in America you have overwhelming majority of people who felt something or someone is doing some great harm to them that they are willing to overlook certain ethics for their safety and security and most people will do this even if they think they won't. And that was from a people with various ideals images cultures and histories doing that. What do you think will happen if you subject a people who all share a common everything? Suddenly your BTS is almost the same as every knets overnight they may not agree on everything but they will agree on most of it and in this scenario that's all that matters .

It’s because kpoppies come from liberal multicultural/multinational countries so they try to force their beliefs on Koreans who are homogeneous and conservative when that’s not how it works. And if their fav is not a foreigner, you can’t really try to separate them from other Koreans like wth. It's a moot point now but ...
The Chinese people who like KPOP both fans and idols are not doing something that their government likes. So for KNetz to attack these people would be doing a favor for their government.
The CCP calls KPOP effeminate and degenerate and wants to cripple not only KPOP in China but all idol culture there (they effectively canceled all idol shows including the extremely popular PD101 knock-offs.)
So how is it better for Koreans to push away the Chinese who like their music and pop culture against the advice of their government?
Anyways, as I said the point is moot. The government there is in the process of completely erasing idols, KPOP and otherwise, for "corrupting" their youth and replacing it with war films that top their (and global) box offices.
I hardly think that leaving Chinese young people to feed themselves only on nationalistic "Wolf Warrior" movies would be that much better for Koreans or anyone else than having a few Chinese KPOP idols attract fans in China.

I don’t think so. In regard to money and career, current generation Chinese idols have it easier. Just look at how easily they are able to build a career back home regardless of their success in Kpop. Older Chinese idols like Hangeng have to deal with harsher laws and contracts. The later gen like Lay and Jackson are able to negotiate a better deal with their Korean companies and have their own studio in China.
If you talk about politics then it always a mix-bag. It’s the same wherever you are. Tension rises and fall. China and Korea don’t have such deep and complicated history like Korea and Japan with the colonization. So depending on their policies these tensions can ease (or get worse). But everyday folks (like idols) have no say in what their countries do. They do what we all do, go with the flow and survive another day.
