I think the GP999 hype reignited the interest of casual fans and general public, but that was pretty much it. Even here on AKP, some people were saddened by the news because they liked a few songs by CLC, but they were not "stans" who continuously supported. It comes to show how ruthless the industry is — many groups elicit positive responses from many, make an impact in their eras, and have chart-topping hits, but fail to accomplish enough (through no fault of their own) to continue.

i really like a lot of their songs even if i was never into them as a group. it always sucks when a group works really hard but just can't catch a break

But lip service? What? Hoping they do well and also personally supporting them are two different things. As a casual follower, I liked them enough, they had a few good songs I bopped to, but I wouldn't put all my energy, time, and money into stanning them. Even if they miraculously had a comeback tomorrow I still wouldn't stan them. Not because there is anything wrong with them, but because they just don't appeal to me.
I watches GP999 from beginning to end and I voted for Yujin a majority of its running. I was glad to see her get another opportunity at success, but as with CLC, I had no interest in the final group, so I didn't stan. Doesn't mean our well wishes for them were insincere.

I really thought her performance on that mnet rap show (her Barbie song especially!) would make her explode in popularity, but while she sort of trended it didn't translate to anything...
idk if it's the company, not picking the right projects or the timing but it's crazy to me how she isn't a big name yet.

fr barbie is a bop and a half, i don't understand how it didn't go anywhere for her. i guess sometimes it genuinely just comes down to luck

I liked CLC but I know better than to Stan doomed groups which they already were back when I came across them in 2017. They peaked musically with Pepe btw. They had a visually solid, very charismatic, and talented, Main Vocal, Main Dancer, and Main Rapper in Seunghee, Seungyeon, and Yeeun. One of the biggest wastes of talent in the biz honestly

Kpop fans are incapable of criticizing their faves or being objective about them. Sometimes the label fucks up. But sometimes the group just fails to get enough fans to make the group financially viable. I've never understood why CLC failed to do as well as Gidle, they have talent and visuals but for whatever reason, they just never caught on with the Kpop fanbase the way Idle did.
