I might be late to this, but it's still pretty shocking to me.
Basically, MBC is making this survival show (of which I did hear about in passing, but never got any details) and it's kind of shocking to me because of the age of some of the contestants and how they are promoting them.
This is how they are doing it, by splitting the girls into 4 groups (1st-4th year) based on age. The youngest being 11 years old.
To make matters worse, the title of the show is "MY TEENAGE GIRL" like, what???? Who thought that idea up and who thought it was okay???? Imagine being an adult and watching a showing called something like that???
As someone who supported Wonyoung during Produce48, I don't specifically have an issue with kids following their dreams (after all, idols besides Wonyoung like Taemin and Krystal debuted at 14, and even legends like BOA debuted at 13) but there still needs to be a very firm line drawn between what is acceptable and what is not. For one, 11 is far too young and how they are promoting these kids are completely disgusting. Some of the outfits and moves these literal kids are wearing and doing in these videos are so freaking gross and cringe-worthy to watch.
video of all the contestants.
It's like they aren't even hiding their creepiness anymore.
What sucks about this is that this show actually looks really good to watch, better than even Girl's Planet 999. Other than that, the show looks promising.
These are the third years:
