why are Korean soloist so disappointing

kinda agree

They're not the only soloists out there and they're probably trying to recreate the same formula that scored them a big hit etc

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I don't know how I feel about this because soloists are not as musically interesting as groups imo... by a large margin.
But I wouldn't go as far to say that they're boring, they kind of release the "same" music because that's why their fans/the GP like it. If it ain't broke, don't fix mentality yk?

I still love Sunmi's music. Even though the music in this CB doesn't appeal to me. IU puts out some monotonous songs, I think she always puts out sweet songs that are easy to listen to. But this is why Koreans love IU's style and voice. I like more assertive intense bold work in solos. There are few female soloists in this style.

Its fine to not find an artist/songs to your liking. Taste in music is very subjective afterall..
Its funny tho to see the same tired nonsense about IU always doing the same or only doing ballads.
Of her 27 #1 songs in korea, a whopping six songs are ballads. With the exception of those and good day & you and i, not a single title track released is in the same genre/style.
And thats without even going into her b-sides. Her #1 songs alone are more diverse than 99,9% of all idol groups out there.
The reasons she is still at the top in korea after a decade is precisly because she does not release the same stuff over and over.

oh shit forgot to mention the king of recycling, PSY. hit it big with Gangnam style and every release since then has been following its formula to the tea. new face still a banger though
