As in appearing on billboard or you mean a hit hit

Define "hit"
I would say Boy With Luv as that was actively playing on American Top 40 radio across America and not just in LA/NYC. I live in the Midwest and it was the first K-Pop song (non Gangnam Style) that was ever played on mainstream radio. I also heard it be played in stores like Target and my local grocery store chain.

The first wouldn’t it be Nobody by Wonder Girls

I think Nobody by Wonder girls was pretty huge. It was released in a time kpop wasn't known in the west and it charted in the Hot 100.

op asked kpop group. Psy is a soloist.

JYP pooping without toilet paper paved the way

Probably Nobody by Wonder Girls as it actually charted on Billboard.

I'm not sure why we're pretending here that Psy's Gangnam Style wasn't a hit. The only reason it didn't hit #1 on Billboard Hot 100 was because the rules at that time heavily skewed toward radio play. Gangnam Style was such an undeniable hit that Billboard literally changed the rules so that nonsense wouldn't happen again.

If it was any K-Pop act, solo or group it would be Gangnam Style hands down. Close thread!

I think back in like 2011 or something YG tried to promote 2NE1 in the USA by letting them release a few songs in English but IDK how well they did over there ...

It’s still Nobody if they asked the “first” hit in the west. It was huge internationally on 2009, everyone knew the dance like gangnam style. And they performed it on wendy williams’ show. It took 3 years for k-pop to top Nobody. They toured with Jonas Brothers with it, and also worked with Akon. It’s just that they couldnt break through in the US after it.

Must be the Kim Sisters lol
