The development of Big 3 GGs shows how popularity is based on company

  • Aespa is rising but BPink hasn’t flinched even one centimeter despite their hiatuses. On the other hand RV ranks lower than Aespa. This demonstrate that Big 3 popularity depends a lot a on a large pool of company stans (and those who dont consider themselves company stans yet still follow groups from the same company).

BPink’s fanbase should be stable until YGNGG. Aespa ate away at RV’s fanbase the same way NiziU did to Twice in Japan, causing lower Twice sales compared to the past.

  • Ehhhhhh I don't really like this whole aespa blaming stance. Do fandoms have to plead allegiance to only one group till they die? Do traitors have to wear a scarlet M for being a multi and be booed out of every thread like:

A band of hardcore fans will always be there to support the senior group but I mean it's not wrong to like different groups from any number of companies. Like your technically not wrong but threads like this will make newer groups look like threats and get the newer groups hated on.

    Desbundar

  • Blinks aren't company stans, if anything we despise everything related to YG aside of BP, so nope, Baemon will not eat BP fanbase, and most blinks had already said that they won't be stanning another yg gg based on the way BP's career had been handled with multiple hiatus and 0 freedom.

  • Well these companies are known to produce consistent bops in the first place. So not surprising if a lot choose to stan their grouls

Also Big Budget = better looking MVs thus making fans stanning their groups.

  • But isnt Red Velvet's latest album gonna blow past their previous record? Looks like their best selling album amounted to 197k on Gaon. But this new album already sold 190k on Hanteo, it will probably sell 300K on Gaon eventually. Doesnt this mean the fanbase is growing and not getting eaten away by Aespa?

you said it, Aespa doesn’t have albums yet

True kpop is 99% about the visuals so bigger companies do benefit in having money for decent mvs, styling, etc...

  • Blinks?? Company stans???? That’s a new one tbh-

Blinks don’t like YG at all lmao, have you seen the many rants made against the company for the mistreatment of the girls?? :pepewhat:

R u talking about charts? Company stans can't control it. If that was the case aespa would have debuted with a hit not a flop.

BPink’s fanbase should be stable until YGNGG. Aespa ate away at RV’s fanbase the same way NiziU did to Twice in Japan, causing lower Twice sales compared to the past.

Bp fandom isn't full of yg stans tho. Bp has a vast fandom. If anything yg stans don't like bp except for their success. Blinks mostly dissociate from yg. Yg is #1 enemy of Blinks lol.

Maybe the only example here is of niziu eating up Twice's Japanese sales. But again that could be as niziu is a young group and doing similar things.

  • Lol. Seriously, is this your thing, you got a narrative in your mind and then ignore everything, every fact and truth, that doesn't fit that narrative?

Or was it all meant as baiting right from the start? :/

Popularity isn't a zero-sum game, same for fanbase.

When Itzy debuted, TWICE's sales didn't go down but still kept up. The sales for both groups went up, both TWICE and Itzy.

Same for Red Velvet. Red Velvet will have the highest album sales of their career, very likely double to triple their former highest.

Blackpink, it's true that a lot of former Blackjacks became hardcore Blinks, we've even seen it happen on this forum. But after that initial boost, Blackpink gained a lot of fans that weren't fans of former YG groups.
