If you're Chinese or have an East Asian face, don't go to the Philippines. Majority of Filipinos are racist especially towards Chinese people. I haven't experienced it yet (maybe because I'm mixed race) but my mom (who is a full blooded Chinese) and some of her peers experienced it already.
They want us to "leave" their country when in fact, the Chinese community is creating jobs for them. <sigh>
Tension between Chinese and other Asians is sadly expected due to political affairs. I’m not sure if refraining from visiting is the answer. I think working together to change perception is the way to go.

Somebody's gotta do the perception correcting. Let's say a huge group of Chinese tourists came to the Philippines and did the most uplifting, amazing things, maybe Filipinos will change their minds about them.
I feel like homogeneous countries are so hated on for being close-minded and whatnot, but it takes people to go there with an open mind and a positive attitude to change perception. A lot of people are much more welcoming and accepting than we think, but we have to earn their respect. I understand people don't like the idea of having to earn others' respect, but that's the traditional way of doing it. For instance, American colonists had to earn the respect of Native Americans. Can't just barge in and demand to have everything right away. Gotta respect the land and the people to earn their respect.

Fair enough. By no means am I insinuating that it's anything to that extent today, but I just think people forget the basic idea of earning respect. Yes, it would be nice for all other countries to respect everyone equally right away, but sometimes we have to work to earn their respect.

The natives should be in charge of their own country, not China. They see where the effects of this might lead if they don't speak up now.

That may help only after controversial images improved that stacked up certain Filipino fury at this point.
Territory invasion, implicit economic poisoning, massive online gambling / casino business establishments by Chinese, Reckon Chinese tourists are not able to help resolve the issues as a primary force. 90%+ are politics, its a government thing and their job to settle twisted perceptions.
