If you're Chinese, think twice before visiting the Philippines

  • If you're Chinese or have an East Asian face, don't go to the Philippines. Majority of Filipinos are racist especially towards Chinese people. I haven't experienced it yet (maybe because I'm mixed race) but my mom (who is a full blooded Chinese) and some of her peers experienced it already.

They want us to "leave" their country when in fact, the Chinese community is creating jobs for them. <sigh>

  • Who are you and why do you sell coffeemashines on a KPop-forum?

I am the future wife of Jake or Huening Kai.

And I am not "selling" coffee machines. My parents own the repair shop. 95% of cafes in AU are independent. If you are in the position to help them, why not share it? ;) And this was posted in The Lounge. A section where you can post non KPOP related topics. :P

  • Visit after perception corrected to an extent can be better.

Somebody's gotta do the perception correcting. Let's say a huge group of Chinese tourists came to the Philippines and did the most uplifting, amazing things, maybe Filipinos will change their minds about them.

I feel like homogeneous countries are so hated on for being close-minded and whatnot, but it takes people to go there with an open mind and a positive attitude to change perception. A lot of people are much more welcoming and accepting than we think, but we have to earn their respect. I understand people don't like the idea of having to earn others' respect, but that's the traditional way of doing it. For instance, American colonists had to earn the respect of Native Americans. Can't just barge in and demand to have everything right away. Gotta respect the land and the people to earn their respect.

the american colonist bit is wonky
i wouldnt use that reference in front of a native, ever... esp considering how natives have and are being treated on their own land

but i agree with you yes. respect is earned.

Fair enough. By no means am I insinuating that it's anything to that extent today, but I just think people forget the basic idea of earning respect. Yes, it would be nice for all other countries to respect everyone equally right away, but sometimes we have to work to earn their respect.

they don't want the same thing thats happening in Africa. Being debt trapped and having their politics run by the chinese (which benefits CHINA and NOT THE PHILIPINES OR THEIR PEOPLE)

I just love when chinese nationalists try to play the victim.

nah, they are only there to spread their pro ccp agenda and soften the blow of China stealing Ocean territory and dumping huge amounts of human waste in it.

The natives should be in charge of their own country, not China. They see where the effects of this might lead if they don't speak up now.

We already see pro ccp chinese people taking over Malaysia/Singapore and refusing to speak a word of Malay.

  • Lmao let’s not start painting the whole of the Philippines as racist when China has literally been trying to claim territory of the Philippines as their when it isn’t and dumping illegal waste.

And also let’s not say “China is creating jobs” when a good portion of jobs is the fishing industry and Chinese fishing boats have been driving away Filipino fishing boats on FILIPINO TERRITORY.

I’m not saying there aren’t racist Filipinos as trust me there are but don’t act like China is the Philippines savior by saying they’re creating jobs when they’re actually taking away from money being poured back into the local economy.

That may help only after controversial images improved that stacked up certain Filipino fury at this point.

Territory invasion, implicit economic poisoning, massive online gambling / casino business establishments by Chinese, Reckon Chinese tourists are not able to help resolve the issues as a primary force. 90%+ are politics, its a government thing and their job to settle twisted perceptions.

  • Havent been to the philippines.

Not related. But I love being friends with chinese. But sadly I have none atm. I used to have tons, but I kept moving away and I didnt kept in touch. Now I can barely speak mandarin. :cryingr:
