I was talking about Star Wars with some friends, because I just went to Disneyland and saw the Galaxy's Edge section. One of them has never seen any Star Wars movies and we were recommending which ones for her to see. I recommended only watching the original trilogy and Rogue One. Others thought she should watch all of them at least once. One of them recommending watching all the movies EXCEPT Phantom Menace lol. Do you like the movies? Would you recommend them? Which ones.
Do you like the Star Wars movies?

Yes, in fact I saw the original Star Wars when it came out in 1977 when I was nine at the movies in Sydney. There was a huge queue waiting to get in. I liked C3-PO the best. It was incredible on the big screen especially the fighting scenes. Then I saw The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. I enjoyed Jedi the most and liked the little Ewoks. They’re all iconic classics but I wasn’t interested in the remakes. Original is best imo.

I love Star wars. Watched them all, several times plus the Mandalorian both seasons and the animated one.
I even played all Star wars games :P Kotor is still the best ever.
But if I would recommend to somebody who is new to it, I'd have them go through them all from Ep 1 all the way to 9. My fav btw is Ep 5, The empire strikes back.
But even tho (IMO) 1,2,3 are some of the worst ever, they do provide background to they story.
And as far as the stand alone films, I recommend Rogue One. That movie was very good!

Why though???
And I hate the millions of spoilers within spoilers
cause it's BORING!!!!

That's true. The prequels do provide good backstory. I appreciate how fleshed out it makes the Star Wars world, just the execution is not my fave.
I thought Rogue One was amazing! I loved how different it felt from the other movies. It was more a war movie/espionage movie than the space fantasy of the others. Plus, I enjoyed the darker tone and how the characters weren't as black and white as in the main movies.

It was really cool! Everything felt and looked really real especially going on the ship and seeing the bunch of stormtroopers and "space" out the windows. Yeah, it was super hard to book though because it was so popular. I went last Christmas. Smuggler's Run was very fun. Also, did you eat in the Star Wars place? I ate at District # or whatever it was. The food looked like something you would find on another planet!
LMAOOO okay...but don't shame my brother

No, I wasn't able to get a reservation. I did drink some blue milk from one of the outdoor vendors lol
-
Oh, that's okay. They didn't have much to choose from there anyway...
Lucky...I kept begging my parents if I could buy some but they didn't get why I would want it because they thought it was actual milk with food coloring LMAOOO
And they also freaked out when they saw that you could add alcohol to it even though it was optional and I pointed out how even kids that were obviously younger than 13 were drinking it...
Idk maybe they read it wrong

Original trilogy
Masterpieces. They were a huge part of my childhood
Prequel trilogy.
They suck but they at least helped create a wider more involved universe. Revenge of the Sith was good though. In recent years there's been a revival oh interest in them because of the memes, the last time I saw one of them I legit kept laughing because I saw the scenes were the memes were from lol.
Sequel trilogy.
Utterly dogshit. The overarching story doesn't work or rather there isn't one, characters are 1 dimensional or built up with no pay off, contradicting each other and previous trilogies, rise of Skywalker complete failed having any worth as the final film. These 3 have totally destroyed and interest for future star wars films. The TV shows and games are best by far the best star wars media for the last few years

:D Well, it probably didn't help that there was pretty much no information about what the drink was listed at the booth. TBH, you didn't miss much. It kinda tasted like liquid smarties candies. It wasn't super special.
-
Oh, okay. Thanks, I've been wondering what that thing tasted like since we got back...
I don't even know why I was so eager to get some anyway lol
So it was basically a cotton candy drink?

Sadly, I have to agree. I love the original trilogy and was so excited for the sequels (even after disliking the prequels), but those films disappointed me so thoroughly that I have little interest in any continuation of the universe. The only movie that I would be interested in seeing a sequel of is Rogue One and that's not possible for obvious reasons lol.

Pfft, I would've enjoyed a cotton candy flavored drink more. It was more like Sweetarts, but without the tartness, but mixed with like soymilk to cut the chalkiness (but not eliminate it). I mean, it was a cool booth and I'm glad I got it, but it's not something that I would get again or would say that it was delicious or anything. My friend who got it too agreed btw. The green one might've been better though.

The originals never get old for me. The prequels are shit except for ROTS mostly because of the awkward acting but I grew up with those ones so they're watchable only for the nostalgia. The sequels..... I think they would've been better if they chose a better plot to expand on the story. I find Rey to be your typical Mary Sue character and somehow that emperor guy is alive?

I feel like the sequels were written with an eye more towards fanservice and trying to capture the whatever made the originals popular instead of just focusing on writing a good story and making a good movie. And yeah, I do feel like Rey was not written well.

There was a my "Star Wars" phase where I was so involved, I used to watch everything there is.....
As for movies, I think some are pretty good and others, not so much...
Prequels were alright. Original trilogy was damn good. Almost everything about Sequel trilogy was disappointing to say the least (except Kylo Ren)...
As for Rogue One and Solo, I liked them a lot.
What pisses me off about Sequel Trilogy is that they have best VFX studio in Hollywood (ILM) and tons of money (Disney), best Characters, Actor who can act pretty well (John Boyega, Oscar Issac, Daisy Ridley), They can't even come up with something that is 100% original, it's like they have no imagination at all...
Shout out to Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau for absolutely knocking it out of the park with The Mandalorian. I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 seasons. They know what they are doing....
What I would like to see?
A movie or series about Knights of the Old Republic... That story needs to be told on the screen....
But we need capable writers, directors and cinematographers for this, if they don't have that, We don't want it because we are not going to sit here and watch another set of stories getting destroyed because Disney couldn't handle the backlash like they did with The Last Jedi which led to the creation of The Rise of Skywalker.
Also, a movie about how the force was born, there must be an explanation for that...
I have an interesting theory
What if the humans we see in this Star Wars movies/comics/books are humans from earth and they somehow (I think it can be explained) arrived on different galaxy and reproduced which led to the character we know?

I've heard so many raves about KotOR. I wish I had gotten into that

I love the original trilogy!
I watched it with my friends countless times. It was like a sleepover ritual to watch at least one of these films before bed.
The prequel films definitely weren't as good but I do enjoy watching them despite their terrible reputation. They're cringey and predictable and the clumsy dialogue isn't helping either, but despite their many flaws these films work pretty well for me on lazy evenings. It certainly feels like Star Wars and you get the sense that this story is indeed taking place in a vast universe.
The sequel trilogy on the other hand...
The best thing about it was getting to watch Mark Hamill openly trash the abomination that is The last Jedi it in interviews.
Unlike the other two trilogies I don't think I'll ever re-watch this one. I really didn't like it.
Rogue One was long but very enjoyable and Solo was good as well. Would watch again.
Love the Mandalorian. Great series.

You can search about about it. Terrific stuff

Only the original trilogy is worth the time. But kids might have a hard time with the SFX.
