Black mamba was a perfect debut choice.

I loved black mamba so much. The song, the girls, the style, the mv. Best sm debut of all time.

I personally think they should have come out swinging with 4-8 bars in "Black Mamba". I know SME is still weak in this area, but to pull it off would have been a moment for the agency.

Something about the production approach leaves an expectation for a hot verse to really light a more repetitive sounding song on fire. That could be a viewpoint only for those exposed to American Hip-Hop before it blew up to eclispe R'N'B. There's this pattern in Hip-Hop/Rap where if the "loop" is too short, it can get boring quick...but it also creates a platform for the rhymes to really amp up the song in an iconic way if the rhymes are legit.

112 - Only You Remix <--This song is boring without the raps.

These songs would be missing something without rap verses in them.

There are exceptions. If the artist or group can sing well and/or the "loop" has a lighter feel, sometimes rhymes can be optional. Examples:

Mariah Carey - Fantasy (without ODB hyping the song is decent)

Ariana Grande - The Way (without Mac Miller is decent)

It really was. Such a badass song and after we got to know more about Black Mamba in that SMCU episode that song became even cooler.

It was perfect to introduce the girls and their universe.
