My opinion in this generation, charting is the standard of a good music. Some says that if a comeback song did not chart at all, it is flop. I think popularity makes a song chart because of the streams.

Rollin didn't chart well for 4 years
Not necessarily
In fact a lot of times I find top music on the western charts to be outright terrible to me and totally not to my liking
Also I made a whole ass thread about it before
lol
Something being popular doesn't mean it's good.
Something being good doesn't mean it's popular.
Things can also be both popular and good.
Also if charting determines sing quality this should be permanently No.1
Not always.
This is such a moving target. People shout that your group didn’t succeed/doesn’t matter because they don’t chart. Then when they do chart, it’s not high enough. Or not long enough. Then when they top the charts, clearly there is some scheme/conspiracy. Or a discussion about the shit taste of the audience. The taste which was just fine and the arbiter of all things when your group wasn’t charting. Or the it’s the fandom, not the GP argument.
So to answer your question, it’s whichever way the wind is blowing that day.
charting means more people are listening to it ie. the popularity of the music...
whether a music is good or not is subjective...
what I find good might be different to what you find good
Nope

OP mark this best answer.
Charting will not always align with personal taste. That’s a fact. But it does show which song is being loved by more people. I think songs get popular for a reason even if I may not like it. So I won’t mark off the significance of charting. It still means a lot
At the end of the day an opinion made by the masses will hold more value than one made by a random user on akp
Not necessarily, so many good quality music get ignored bcoz people don't even bother to check it out so whoever is popular with public charts well
Some songs blew up not because of the song itself but because of the mv, choreo, line, member or an iconic moment.
Charting doesn't mean a song is good, it means that it's popular.
for kpop its simple. if your fave is doing well on charts it means its a good music. if your fave is doing bad on charts that means gp is tasteless. but there are exceptions of course
