I think some ppl expect them to chart at least like Seventeen, day6 and nct, so enter melon top 100 for more than a day. It's not fair imo because even 3rd gen isn't charting like 2nd gen, but then 4th gen fans should remain of naming their faves the biggest ones or pretend they have big fame in Korea

TXT is still the only 4th gen BG that can chart on FLO. Charting on FLO means that a decent amount of people are streaming.
It is swift call between public or fandom. Variety shows dont invite idol groups these days compared to past. People say idol dont promote. Thing is pds dont invite them

Even during 2nd gen and 3rd gen era i think it was mostly the fans who will stream continuously so the song will get in charts; nowadays they can only do it on genie and bugs. That's why melon chart was reformed to only count unique listeners for their chart.

i think even the companies these days don't care for charts for boygroups. Their first priority is to gain a good fanbase. That's why some people call boygroup music these days as too loud or noisy because laid back; easy songs that public likes is not liked by fandoms. And there is no way public will even listen to your song if you are a boygroup; whether you release public friendly songs.
Atleast for title tracks high energy performance based songs are preferred because kpop idol music is usually dance tracks.

Boy groups in general never performed extraordinarily well and consistent with digitals like girl groups did.

A song which is not in top 100 melon is seen inferior (despite 500k+ album sales) compared to GG groups who sold less than those 4th gen BG groups. Most GG fans have this superiorty complex that their faves are on the same level as BTS after the trend of abusing ADS (Thanks to one particular group) were heavily popularized on Youtube.. Yeah korean charts shouldn't be used as standards to judge for success now that kpop is not that popular in korea and internationally it has more demand. While album sales and youtube views( without ads) show their popularity. For girlgroups charting well on korean charts is more important because they don't have as much album sales or merch sales; but they can get into acting and cfs with popularity in korea. Even then there are successful girlgroups like Loona and Dreamcatcher which don't chart in Korea but have decent album sales 100k+ and dreamcatcher even held their own live concert.
BEAST/Highlight did great tho, considering everything that was against them , their latest cb also charted

I was impressed with how well they did but the point is basically boygroups not having hits at all the past few years.
I’m so excited to see this month releases even tho I don’t have high expectations.
