Has NCT surpassed TVXQ as SM #1 group all time?

It's all opinion.. My opinion is no, absolutely not, TVXQ is a landmark in kpop and no one can be like them. I don't know why people are so obsessed with who is #1

If you're looking at it from a power sales perspective, NCT is bigger AT THE MOMENT and their latest mini album has sold more than TVXQ's last mini album in Japan.

But both are iconic, period.

NCT and TVXQ cant be compare , both have a 10 years gap of active years and lots of thing already changes now compared to the days when TVXQ still active/on their peak

No where close to the same logic, but i’m assuming you already knew that. TVXQ has longevity. BP and Twice are from the same era so it’s easier to judge them just based off of current stats.

TVXQ has been a top group and touring powerhouse for over a decade. NCT has been a group for 5 years now. You can’t compare the legacy of a group that started in 2003 to a new group from 2016

In terms of impact and legacy? No. TVXQ is the predecessor group of SHINee who is still influencing groups and getting accolades today. If SM didn't make the progress it did with TVXQ, or just didn't exist, that void would have impacted at least 2-3 future groups on SM's roster.

Album sales is not the only criteria for a top group also they are not even comparable, the gap of active years is so big to even discuss this.
