Racist Korean comments to article on Asian hate crimes

  • Yeah, that's what everyone says every time that word comes up. I agree, by the way.

It's kinda like how people respond to getting a WP for breaking the "thread that doesn't create intelligent discussion" rule. ^^

But by "not productive," I mean it does nothing to bring forward change if that's the reason we're even discussing this. Pitching minorities against each other is a load of passive-aggressive BS that the elitists and supremacists wanted us to do.

If that's the rule, I won't argue with it. However, sensitive topics are bound to have "not productive" comments.

I'm just not a fan of discussing these things if all we're doing is pitching marginalized groups against each other.

I know you're just talking about Korea as in the country and society, but we know how simple-minded folks out here in the West are. They'd take that and run with it as if every single Korean on Earth is vicious and subhuman. We've seen it before with the "Chinese virus" comments and the constant blaming China. They can't distinguish between a country and its diaspora worldwide.

Tell me about it... Nowadays, racism is often driven by politicians and the media.

  • It's disgusting and tiring, right? I'm fed up with it.

    I just live my life...
I try to defend what I can, but in reality, there isn't much I can do.
    Some people just can't change...

We live, then we die. Work hard to enjoy the moments we can.

I've worked in automotive manufacturing plants, honestly, some of the things are quite disturbing. I bet some people probably can't even handle it.

Very true. All we can really do is stay calm, fulfill our responsibilities, and try to enjoy our lives as best as we can. There's a lot of things that simply aren't worth our time.

  • I'm sorry but don't bring history into context here. Yes, historically the United States was very racist but U.S. has improved. Yes, there are still racist people in the United States here today but proportionally, I still believe Korea is more racist. The audacity to even say such profanity in the comment section is uncalled for and rarely witnessed in the U.S.

Heavily disagree. The US has just learnt to be smarter about when it uses such profanity. Doing it in closed Facebook groups, on 4chan, 8chan, LINE, Telegram etc.

Koreans don't give a shit and are just more open about the racism.

  • That's actually painfully wrong. America was built on colonialism, genocide and slavery. Korea suffered from those things. Yes, Koreans have a long way to go but in comparison to US it's like comparing an ant to a dragon.

All I've gotta say is talk to more asians in Asia for one wokeness is not a thing there like the US, shove the average sociology student in China and watch them get triggered.

  • The Korean article was pretty clear on that an Asian man got attacked in a hate crime and showed a picture of the attacker:

Why would you not expect that some Korean would react strongly to this?

Thats what I thought, they said the race was not mentioned but the picture basically makes it clear?

Is the victim okay? Why is the knets reaction being posted rather than the attack itself?

The Asian person luckily survived but only because the train was about to stop in time.

The photo was all over news and twitter so it is pretty clear to anyone who is on the net.

Why do I watch survival shows? This!

  • In my experience both countries have racist people, but just in different ways.

America is usually more outright with it but also scared of being called out for it. They call names and mock openly

Koreans talk about it and mock too but they aren't afraid of getting caught, they don't care
