When you're THAT big, you don't need music shows to promote your album anymore tbh. Your name alone will be enough promotion. IU has stopped doing music shows to promote her album for a WHILE, only recently has she started promoting but only for Palette and Lilac/Coin. Maybe they'll promote here or there for a short while in the future but they clearly don't need to go on music shows as much as they did before.

music show performances are kind of excessive for bts now tho. we saw literally 20+ different dynamite performances without music shows. why do they need to specifically perform on music shows anymore? i could see them maybe doing a week in the future bc as people have already said they like performing for fans. but again, its excessive

If audience is allowed they will probably do it again. They talk a lot about seeing fans again.
Personally, I think it's fine they are not attending as long as the pandemic continues. They just perform at the stage without the audience and have some restrictions from different broadcast stations too. They provide fans with better performances on their own.

No point of going there if they cant have live audiences. I remember they said before that the reason they went to music shows are just to meet army. Personally, I prefer when they use their usual crews like lumpens or zanybros when recording their performances. We get better camera work, performance production that way.

And im sure their promo will be targeted towards western countries again, likely BBMA, Late night shows etc etc

Everything I wanted to say in these two replies.
I think as soon as audiences are allowed, they'll promote on music shows. Since concerts still don't look like a possibility for some time now, I think they'll definitely be on those shows.
I personally feel they pushed back the date of the release of this single and the album due to the hope of being able to perform in front of audiences. Otherwise I don't remember them having to release so much content with very small intervals. I mean they released Japanese single (OST), English single, Japanese album and a korean album in less than 3 months time with almost 3 months of no activities before that. Since the situation didn't get any better they have decided to go ahead.
