How popular would I.O.I be if they had a normal 7 year contract

Their songs weren't even that good.

All the members had such strong and distinct personalities.

They could have been one of the leading groups if they let the members do a lot of subgroup and solo projects.

Market changed too much to answer that question anymore.

2016 K-Pop is so vastly different compared to 2020 K-Pop.

Every produce group was big and would be even bigger if not time limited, but for me I.O.I. were the most charismatic and interesting one from the bunch. Everything Iz*One achieved, I.O.I. probably would have achieved too by now after 4-5 years, if the idiots of Mnet wouldn’t disband them (and give them better contracts so that all involved companies would agree).

i think they wouldve still been big, but whats special about izone to me is that they feel like an actual group that wasn't picked by fans (not talking about the rigging controversy lol, don't try it). i feel like ioi's lineup was strong but they never looked like a group to me, just a group of randomized girls. also ioi's discography was all over the place, they didn't have a real hit until very very very.

Pretty popular tbh. IOI walked so the other produce groups could run. They got popular because people liked their music. They didn't even get super popular until Whatta Man promotions and were able to give Twice, Red Velvet, Black Pink, and Gfriend a run for their money, even while those groups were releasing their biggest hits in their entire career.

With Produce, part of their success is because they were temporary and people feel like they only have a short amount of time to make them successful. With IOI, I think people were less concerned about that and genuinely liked the group.
