I needed to share the information. Some people seem to not understand where these companies stand
I even sucked it up and added the new ugly yellow corporate color!

Theres been slight increase. But mostly it simply seemed bigger when HYBE wasnt around.
CJ itself is a bigger group then just CJ ENM.

What do they have a monopoly over? I don't know much about this company

I heard they are like the apple of South Korea. They have their hands everywhere from entertainment to malls to business. I think Myaza was comparing their entertainment side. I was the one who misunderstood

Not only big 3 combined, big3 + CJ ENM combined!

It's all coming together

1) What is the business model of CJ ENM? I know they have a major stake in Belift so they are also into music label businesses, right?
2) HYBE market cap should probably also increase once the transaction for Ithaca finally goes through and new shares will be issued. I'm curious what the new valuation will be.

Market cap isn't everything though, and is not necessarily an accurate reflection of company value or prospects. Just take a look at the ridiculousness that's happened with GameStop recently.
-
Thanks, weird that they included CJ ENM but not kakao
-
-
should've rotated the 2nd graph and turn it into pac-man :-D
-
It's missing kakao which dwarfs all the companies listed combined tho.
That would be Kakao.

Well, in this case market cap is pretty in line with profitability and with future potential.pasted-from-clipboard.png

CJ ENM owns MNet, TvN, other cable channels, Kcon and some other stuff. They also own music labels, mostly ones for their own reality show produced groups. I think they were going into music business with their own labels and reality shows with a plan for vertical integration, intent on using their ability to control a lot of the media channels idols use for exposure to give an extra advantage to their own artists. But I think it didnt work out as well as they thought, because social media and BTS paving a way to the west gave other companies new exposure channels not so dependant on traditional media.

Kakao is bigger than Kakao M and isnt so directly tied to kpop.

You and your charts 😅. Your stats are always presented so well...👍

The yellow is horrible. I guess they needed to choose the last color left, because for any other color some kpop fandom would scream plagiarism
For me the yellow color is the least problem with the logo. Yellow is nice.. the logo itself is as plain and boring as it gets.
Edit:
The stats looking awesome.

Yeah HYBE has done well for life after BTS, BTS took them very far but over the last year or two their shrewd business tactics have really paid off to grow HYBE into a real entertainment power house and really look strong and should be the top player even without BTS.
They've done well and still growing and striking deals, I mean one day your biggest artist is BTS and the next day you've got contracts with the likes of Ari and JB....crazy.

what is "market cap"? the richer company?

Market capitalization is what the company is valued at. Market capitalization is calculated by the number of shares that exist multiply by the price per share (stock market price). What this means, in a theoretical sense, is how much someone needs to pay to buy out the company; they would need acquire every single share that exists and pay the current market price per share. Instead of thinking it as "rich" (which usually refers to as cash flow), think of it as "size" or how much a company is "worth".

GameStop was a hit and bag stock and has not any real business behind its stock. Why are people always using this example for overvalued stocks? The only comparable thing to that would be the short-squeeze of VW in 2008. If you actually looked into Hybe you might know that they have one of the most successful artists world wide in their portfolio and are not a corporation who is nearly bankrupt like Gamestop.

Exactly it also shows the interest by investors into a company. Tesla is a good example of it. Even though they are not even a big part of the automotive industry if you look into their sales and market margin, they have a very high valued stock price and market cap. This is due to the fact that they are very interesting for investors and the public.

All i see is pac-man
*Should have rotated the graph more*

Thank you, was just about to reply to that post about how the comparison with Gamestop has zero merit.
