Why? Because it was the most successful song in the biggest market.

No girl group song had as much impact worldwide as Bwl let alone GS, Gentleman or Dynamite.

Same case for USA. That leaves Japan as the biggest market which is bigger rest of the Asia combined (excluding s.korea) And Mister was a national hit in both Japan and Korea. Both TT and gee were also big in Japan but Mister was bigger.
