It's funny watching international fans fail to grasp why ADP are in the middle of the biggest debut since NewJeans

  • The amount of bewildered hatred across reddit, x and PC is just hilarious.

It's really not that deep. These members are POPULAR, but what's funny is that newer generation fans have no idea how popular one member is in Korea.

    Woochan.

This kid was a star 7 years ago, when he was literally just a KID and rapped his way to the FINALS of Show Me the Money against some of the biggest rappers in the industry at the time.

And sure enough, all his old performance videos are getting flooded by Korean comments

And did you know he already has a #1 hit song on MelOn?

From when he was a KID. Holding his own and outperforming grown men 2-3x his age.

Everyone always talks about the chaebol granddaughter, Yeongseo, Bailey or Tarzann, but it's clear to me ifans have no idea how much hype Woochan contributes to their big splash in Korea.

Korea has been waiting for him for years. I had no idea he was even in TBL. He was a Cube trainee during SMTM.

But anyway, there is your history lesson once again from yours truly.

  • Kpop stans fighting for their lives to say how their faves are the top bc they are popular in SK, but the moment a new group goes viral in SK suddenly Koreans have bad taste, are cringe, etc.

In the end they are singers/rappers and if the music they release is liked and appreciated by so many people then they are already doing good! Hitting #1 on Melon isn't easy neither should be used as a way to downplay this group. Big4 stans should mind their business talking about privilege and what not.

  • the cornrows with abs are why

That is far from the only hate and shade I've seen directed towards ADP.

A LOT of these people are belittling Koreans and mocking them for being "superficial" and putting hip hop on a pedestal.

As if there haven't been hip hop concept groups before, even from big companies, that haven't made anywhere near the same noise as ADP.

I also needed to emphasize how painfully obvious it is that ifans have absolutely no clue about Woochan's background and that he's ALREADY a chart topping artist. Did it before he even finished puberty.

  • definitly the show me the money glow is benefiting adp. a big part of gp are sick and tired of the idol/pretty boy outdated bs.

they want novelty, they want real artists, they want more freedom, they want cool people.

Exactly. Even by perpetually miserable terminally online K-Pop stan standards, the vitriolic outrage I keep seeing flare up just because ADP is a monster rookie, is so over the top.

It's really people who have been rooting for YG groups and any offshoots aka TBL to fail, and now they're salty ADP is on the verge of an All-Kill and blowing up in Korea.

  • Well, from what Ive seen, a lot of ifans don't get the hype around the group because of Tarzzan.

They fail to comprehend just how irrelevant cultural appropriation is to Koreans (no offense) and expect it to be this big thing that ADP is constantly criticized for all across the board.

I'm a Tarzzan hater but I know Woochan hard carries the group in terms of talent.

Meanwhile Koreans are huge fans of Tarzzan. Those people are just suffering the reverberating whiplash of cognitive dissonance. It wouldn't surprise me if majority of them just hate YG/TBL groups and artists in general.

But there is absolutely a lot of rage baiting noise from haters who are bashing the group and their songs as a whole.

Teddy assembled the avengers for this group. It's really that simple.

    Yeah, this is why.

But yeah, Teddy did assemble the thunderbolts for this group (not quite avengers yet but we can say woochan is bucky) but the hating on their music is valid because wicked was wickedly dookie.

    Famous was meh.

  • This group is neither a BG nor a GG nor an idol group.

There are many artists say like akmu from YG and stuff who always had huge hits but ifans never cared about them. Even IF the Tarzan stuff never happened.

You’re just overly obsessed with this group because you are insecure about girls like aespa or other idol GG debut and want some non threatening group like this one to succeed.

Stop being so transparently salty Yama.

  • Maybe they are rooting for this group to take down aespa or other GGs so they can say how their faves are the undisputed No.1 because other GGs got taken down.

I just know a thread will be coming if aespa fails to get No.1 and this is the group that blocks them, and how aespa failed to take down rookies.

They were celebrating last year when IVE failed to get No.1 with Heya when it was blocked by literally Zico AND Jennie and how 2024 is an absolute flop for them

    :peperun:  :peperun::exit-pepe::exit-pepe:

  • That’s literally the only reason he’s talking about them.

And like he’s not even hiding his cringe behavior

  • I couldn't care less about who the members are. I only care about music. Extremely unpopular opinion here but i don't care about tarzan's braids, he looks cringy with or without them. He's acting the way he thinks actual rappers would act. But I'm not bothered with him.

Is Famous ok song? Yes, it is. Is it worthy of number 1? Imo, no. There's nothing original about it. Glad everyone is focusing on Famous tho because Wicked is just garbage. How it got released is beyond me

  • I only have a few issues with the group and I understand their popularity because each member brings a large following. My main issue with the group is Tarzzan because he's corny and there's just too many CA issues with him. I just find the act that he's playing is offensive and there was just too many things at once that was shown before they even released their debut song.

At the end of the day, it's kpop and that issue doesn't matter too much in the grand scheme of things. I don't think it ever affected a group's popularity, so it is what it is. I think it's fair to say we can't deny the talent of the group because Woochan is one of the better idol rappers I've heard. Youngseo seems to be holding her own on vocals, and Annie is better than I expected. I did expect more from Bailey due to her background, but I assume they will improve as a whole.

I think it's clear this group fills a void that is missing in 5th gen because most 5th gen groups aimed with youth and playing it safe. However, this group counters all of that and provides a more mature concept and being portrayed as the cool group to follow. So, I fully understand why this working. I think international fans will follow and this group will continue to grow. I still think eventually Tarzzan antics will catch up with them though.

    Just my 2 cents here.

  • :meme-conspiracy:

Such responses aren't even worth my time.

    Absolute coke rant.

  • I would never try to dismiss or downplay people having a legitimate issue with CA.

I'm purely responding to the hate I see being thrown towards the group for other unrelated reasons as well as the apparent confusion over why Korea loves ADP so much.

That's fair, not the biggest fan of their music but famous has grown on me. I think people just need to realize hype, talent, and charisma can take you far. This is a lot like gnarly where many hated the song, but the group's charisma and performance carried it. I think this is the same thing happening with ADP and Famous. I am unsure about wicked though lol. That's the one I don't understand but if a group is popular, then people will check out their music.

I am confident Wicked will absolutely not be the Hype Boy to Famous's Attention.

But Famous is staying on my rotation for the entire summer.

You’re so fake lmaoo making a thread one day before aespa’s cb.

I'm not remotely threatened by aespa. I literally just saw them this past February.

Just because your brains have rotted to the point where K-Pop fandom only exists in "with us or against us" tribalism doesn't mean I or others are prisoners to that ignorant school of no thoughts.

This is the last time I'm going to be somewhat cordial about this.

    Shut the hell up.

  • Come on man, Korean people aren't checking a Korean music platform thinking, “I'm gonna listen to this song because some kid was popular years ago.” It's simple—the music hits, and the general public responds. That's it.

  • Woochan.

This kid was a star 7 years ago, when he was literally just a KID and rapped his way to the FINALS of Show Me the Money against some of the biggest rappers in the industry at the time.

So, even after 7 years, he's still not a good rapper just your average Idol rapper?

I mean, I'm not surprised he's popular, but anyone who didn't become better after all these years should hang up their mic and baggy pants.😅

You come on, man. Woochan has a big following, was already a chart topping artist and literally you can go to his SMTM performances and see Korean comments within the past 2 weeks with THOUSANDS of likes.

The music is hitting, but the public interest in the members is a massive component too. Why else do companies invest so much time and money into carefully picking the members of our favorite groups?

It's a fact that int. fans are completely ignorant about Woochan already being a fan favorite in Korea.

You definitely went straight back to the Ice Age to find this take

  • facts I don't know who Woochan is and I don't care, more like Whochan :exit-pepe:

    THEN READ THE OP :pepe-firing:

Woochan was a BEAST during Show Me the Money

Rapping alongside one of the literal greatest MCs to EVER come out of Korea, Nucksal

  • I think it's clear this group fills a void that is missing in 5th gen because most 5th gen groups aimed with youth and playing it safe.

I have to disagree about this.

ADP isn't doing anything different from Young Posse or Badvillain, except being a co-ed group, and having massively popular members.

So, as I said, their charting has nothing to do with quality or talent, it's just pure fame. Koreans and people in general are obsessed with star power, especially Kpop stans, they don't want to follow a nugu group even if they're talented. It's much more fun to follow someone who has a better chance to be famous. Especially for toxic stans who loves to shade smaller groups that doesn't have much chance to chart.
