I’m not an expert, so feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
If we remove talent (from equation), gg needs strong songs and one very popular member to keep it alive and relevant.
Here are some examples:
-
If Chaewon leaves, I honestly think the group wouldn’t last more than 6 months.
-
Same case here. Wonyoung’s star power carries a lot.
-
BABYMONSTER – Ahyeon, Chiquita
Both are rising stars and essential to the group's future.
-
aespa – Interesting case
They seem to rotate in popularity. Karina is the most consistent, but Giselle really stood out in the recent comeback.
What’s unique is that all 4 members go viral at different times, like seasonal trends.
(They even have a member named Winter, which fits perfectly.)
-
ITZY – Ryujin (early), then Yeji, then Yuna
They’ve matured now, but their buzz has faded.
JYP missed a huge opportunity with Yuna—she had multiple viral moments but they didn’t capitalize on them.
Combine that with a lack of big hits, and their momentum dropped.
A real shame, because ITZY is still the best-performing group overall.
