The longevity of this girl group is INSANE!

  • Do you think they will top Melon? 19

The result is only visible to the participants.

The reason "Into The New World" is charting again in Korea is obvious if you read political news, but still, by the end of the week (or the year), they can top Melon if this continues!

Girls' Generation proves that longevity is more important than any short-term popularity!

NOTE: I could be wrong, but I don't think "ITNW" ever topped the K-charts. It was released 17 years ago, and I didn't care about charts back then, so excuse my ignorance.

    No it never did

ITNW became the national song that it is now because of the message of hope of the song

The song became THE song use during protest, pride, etc... and that's made of ITNW such an iconic and big part of korea

I would probably even say it's one if not the biggest kpop song in korea

I wouldn't say that the song was a huge hit, but it performed reasonably well. According to the Melon monthly data I previously compiled, it reached the #9 sp‍ot for September 2007.

  • It's mostly good because it's a debut song. Had it been a 3rd-4th single it would not be the same thing, because it's not that good. But being a debut single for a iconic group make it a bit special, even if the song is not that special.

Yeah, you got this all wrong. It wasn't a massive hit when they debuted, SNSD wasn't even a big group at all, at their first concert they got a Black Ocean. This song became a massive hit over the years, and not just that, it's pretty much a National Anthem, and saying this, isn't even an exaggeration.

If a song can be this important for so many people, even if they're not Kpop fans, it means it's a good song. So yeah, "ITNW" is 100% special, and meaningful. That's why people use it for protests and stuff.

If anything, SNSD's career proved that they're not a one-hit wonder group, their other songs are much bigger hits!

But wasn't the black ocean because fans of some boy groups were not happy with SNSD being close to those male idols? Id I remember well, it had nothing to do with them being popular or not.

But I do agree, I remember their debut was well received but not extremely popular. Wonder Girls were more popular at that point, I believe. Only the release of Gee blew them up.

It was a long time ago, but I'm pretty sure those "fans" were angry, because SNSD performed before their TVXQ, I think, and they didn't want to wait and listen to a girl group. It was madness! The video is still up on YT, you can see them crying on stage.

Yes, Wonder Girls were more popular.

Nah it was 100% because of fans of TVXQ and Suju being jealous SNSD were close to their faves including starring in CFs and TV shows together which led to rumors of them dating. The hate was already huge online with mutiple sites being anti SNSD and this carried onto real life.

The best part is in 2013 SNSD did dream concert and got the entire stadium full of fans of other groups holding up their light sticks singing along to their songs word for word. It was so loud the broadcast version used their normal cd songs instead of live audio of the event.

That too, but at the concert, they did it, because they performed before them. At least, that's what people said.

I'm pretty sure those idiots even chanting: "Wonder Girls!" or something like that.

I don't think that's the reason. The order for most Kpop concerts is senior idols or more popular idols sing last or close to last. SNSD going earlier would make sense because they're rookies. TVXQ would have been near the end or right at the end.

Yeah they did chant wonder girls to spite SNSD

I'm only saying what I heard from Korean SNSD fans.

You're right, the order makes sense, and it's a thing everywhere, not just in Kpop, but still, those "fans" didn't want to hear them before their faves because they had to wait longer. This is still a thing in Kpop, btw, when multiple groups, soloists perform on the same day, many people leave after their faves are finished their performance. Disrespectful as hell, not to mention, they're wasting their money for a 20 minute long performance, when the concert can be 2-3 hour long.

I don't meant it was a massive hit at the debut, I meant the songing being the debut song makes it a bit special.

That's pretty much the opposite of why it's popular now. The lyrics resonate with people who feel oppressed. Sure being SNSD's debut song helps, but it's definitely not the main reason
