The longevity of this girl group is INSANE!

  • Do you think they will top Melon? 14

The result is only visible to the participants.

The reason "Into The New World" is charting again in Korea is obvious if you read political news, but still, by the end of the week (or the year), they can top Melon if this continues!

Girls' Generation proves that longevity is more important than any short-term popularity!

NOTE: I could be wrong, but I don't think "ITNW" ever topped the K-charts. It was released 17 years ago, and I didn't care about charts back then, so excuse my ignorance.

    No it never did

ITNW became the national song that it is now because of the message of hope of the song

The song became THE song use during protest, pride, etc... and that's made of ITNW such an iconic and big part of korea

I would probably even say it's one if not the biggest kpop song in korea

I wouldn't say that the song was a huge hit, but it performed reasonably well. According to the Melon monthly data I previously compiled, it reached the #9 sp‍ot for September 2007.

  • It's mostly good because it's a debut song. Had it been a 3rd-4th single it would not be the same thing, because it's not that good. But being a debut single for a iconic group make it a bit special, even if the song is not that special.

Yeah, you got this all wrong. It wasn't a massive hit when they debuted, SNSD wasn't even a big group at all, at their first concert they got a Black Ocean. This song became a massive hit over the years, and not just that, it's pretty much a National Anthem, and saying this, isn't even an exaggeration.

If a song can be this important for so many people, even if they're not Kpop fans, it means it's a good song. So yeah, "ITNW" is 100% special, and meaningful. That's why people use it for protests and stuff.

If anything, SNSD's career proved that they're not a one-hit wonder group, their other songs are much bigger hits!

But wasn't the black ocean because fans of some boy groups were not happy with SNSD being close to those male idols? Id I remember well, it had nothing to do with them being popular or not.

But I do agree, I remember their debut was well received but not extremely popular. Wonder Girls were more popular at that point, I believe. Only the release of Gee blew them up.
