    One of the problems of getting political if you have skeletons in your closet, she has every right to speak her mind, but dang, people [mostly incels I bet] coming back at her with the Produce 101 rigging charges is also legit.

    Does she need to state her opinion of survival show rigging and opposition party's full platform to report a burning building or assert that the sky is blue? Declaring martial law in liue of nothing is worth protesting. How much more cookie cutter do idols need to be politically?

    Of course she as a citizen can express her opinion as she deems fit. But playing the celebrity card, is bound to invite flak.

    Why should the opinion of a celebrity be any more worthy than any ordinary citizen in such matters?


    Both LYW by refusing to comment and Chaeyeon by commenting as a celebrity are missing the nuance.


    Both should have gone with - as a private citizen I have my opinions and concerns, will express it as I see fit. But do not want to mix that with my profession.

    Indeed, if she had just said, "it's my personal opinion" rather than "I am a celebrity blah blah blah" she wouldn't have gotten nearly as much flak.

    I think platforms/governments should mandate that certain professions like entertainers must have a separate business and private persona.


    Like stage names RM vs Namjoon, except that Namjoon shouldn't be known at all outside friends and family like ordinary people.


    Any opinion unrelated to their profession should be from this private account.


    Basically celebrities while having the same freedom as others, have an outside platforms. That "size" should be regulated.


    Otherwise we end up with idiotic things like Rihanna commenting on Farmer's protests in India against a legislation, which turned out she did for payment.

    Why do they always pick on her? She seems like such a nice person and is working hard on her solo career. Also, are these people insane for comparing survival show rigging scandal to a government overstepping by declaring martial law. Her and other idols should be able to speak up on issues if they feel they want a voice.


    Lastly, people might not like when celebrities speak out, but their voices can be powerful and its nice to see her and others use their voice for good

    This is not the first time that people criticized her. It seems there's always something that they try to attack her for. That part I don't understand. I guess she choose the spotlight with that comment. However, I rather see an idol stand for what they believe in than to see them making a cowardly comment they don't believe in.
