How much are the Coachella controversy and the Mhj vs Hybe feud affecting Lsf?

  • I saw the MMA video yesterday, and all the groups, even Illit, got good cheers during the nominations. But when it was lsf turn, it went completely silent. I never paid much attention to stuff like this, but I didn’t expect to see that happen to such a popular group. It was awkward. So, it just makes me wonder how much everything that happened this year has affected them and their popularity. Personally, I don’t think the Coechella and hybe feud a big of a deal for people to feel so torn about them. Especially the Coachella one, it's such a silly 'controversy' for me.

I’m not following their charts or international achievements, I can’t say much about that. So I’m wondering how bad the vocal controversies were for them. I’m also not sure if the whole Hybe vs. MHJ feud is affecting them, since that seems more focused on Illit.

  • I don't think Crazy was a song that Korea liked but it was still charting on melon Daily up until 2 weeks ago. Also, international kpop stans absolutely made Crazy go viral on social media because of Eunchae's rap verse in both korean and english. LSFM isn't over yet but their next comeback will be crucial to getting Koreans back on their side (if Source even cares lol).

    Is he.....you know?

    레드벨벳엑소샤이니에이티즈

  • I think it affected them a lot, I still see so many people saying some hurtful things about them and in awards the audience is entirely kpop fans

they should focus in releasing a hit, the general public wouldn't care less

  • it was already said in another thread but they were not anticipated to win any awards, so none of their fans showed up. Hence the lack of applause.

Otherwise I highly doubt they lost any real fans from the coachella controversy. Some people did not like their response to the criticism and they may have lost casual fans to that but probably not many. Crazy was a mid song, 1800 hot n fun is 100x better.

that's how wide the coachella incident spread

  • The Coachella performance is largely responsible for the damage to their reputation in Korea. All the other incidents would've been minor in isolation, but when compounded with the Coachella performance, each incident was amplified and magnified. The result is that LSF's reputation as the best performers of their generation has completely flipped in Korea and they have a reputation now as idols who have no skills.

It's obviously unfair and untrue, but it's hard for foreigners, myself included, to grasp how important it is to Koreans that when they're being represented abroad, they can feel pride in whomever that representative is. And unfortunately for LSF, their performance at Coachella was branded as a national embarrassment, and it even made the national broadcast news channels with that headline.

    That is HARD to shake.

The worst part is that it was international fans who made it blow up and escalate to the point that Korean fans noticed and escalated it on their side too. It was the perfect illustration of how ifans can be just as toxic and harmful as the worst knetizens.

  • Vocal controversy after vocal controversy after vocal controversy did the most damage. Without the encores, Coachella wouldn't have blown up as much and without Coachella, the MHJ Hybe debacle wouldn't have blown up as much

  • It's very interesting to analyze how It all scaled to the point It is how It is today.

Everything started when Fearnots used a pre-recorded 'Perfect Night' dance video to brag about how LE SSERAFIM was able to sing stable while dancing unlike other groups. It was a popular discussion on Twitter and when they came back with 'Easy' weeks later, all eyes were on them on their encore, so fandoms took advantage of their weak performance there to ratio a tweet with it and getting revenge. The viral tweet reached korean forums and they started to be dragged there too. Less than two months later Coachella happened and we all saw how most people reacted online.

On top of that, Chaewon's shade on instagram and Sakura's weverse post saying she was proud of her performance and wouldn't bow down got negative responses. To add fuel to the fire, Source Music had the great idea of making a documentary where people saw them as vitimizing themselves more than worring about improving and let the public even more annoyed of them.

I'd say MHJ-HYBE controversy didn't have the much big of an impact on their image. HYBE stans and Fearnots made it about them more than actually It was.

It’s not effecting them much in the western market. They are even nominated for a billboard award.

    Translation please

  • This makes sense why people were doing the most with their encore no offense but LSRF had worse vocals moments before the encore but no one cared.

However saying it’s mostly fearnots‘ fault is not true just because they have some brain dead fans it doesn’t explain why they started to decline in Korea, illit is younger so I guess Korea doesn’t want to drag them but LSRF were older, and on top of that even the main vocalists had a bad moment.

It’s an accumulation of two mid songs easy wasn’t good, smart wasn’t interesting either, Coachella and MHJ, PN had a big drop after the conference.

  • started to decline in Korea, illit is younger so I guess Korea doesn’t want to drag them but LSRF were older, and on top of that

    I don't think it's a matter of being younger

I just think korea try to be more understanding of ILLIT cuz the members debuted through a survival with most of the members having a really short time of training

+ They just debuted and their vocal controversy was at their debut so i think koreans think that illit have a lot of chance to improve in the months to come that's why they are not so harsh on them

    On the other side

Lsrf is a group where half of the member have receive a long training time and even promoted for years in the industry prior to debuting in lsrf (izone)

Chaewon and sakura have been promoting in korea for 6 years now between izone and lsrf activities

Yunjin have been a trainee for 5-6 years

That's why koreans have less chance to let it slide compare to illit members where they kinda understand their low level in vocal

  • I have Korean friends who are bunnies and they stopped listening to LSFM and ILLIT completely. HYBE vs. MHJ 100% had an impact. Most of Korea supports NJ, so naturally they start listening to less LSFM and ILLIT. LSFM doesn't even have 1 song on the top 100 Melon anymore. Over the next year or two you will see them fall down into ITZY level irrelevance.

Itzy might be irrelevant but atleast they have a positive reputation, lsfm and illit won't even have that
