Do you remember the discussions about aespa's concept before they debuted?

    I remember prior to aespa's debut, a lot of people were creating wild conspiracy theories about how SM was planning to use aespa's avatars to increase the parasocial relationship between fans and the members. There was also talk about how SM would create a virtual hotel for fans to be "guests" and "meet" SM idols. Basically the worst assumptions about the AI concept.


    I wonder what they think about all of that now.

    yeah SM was all ove the place with this ae concept and synk stuff, similar to what they envisioned for NCT, idk why companies keep pushing these weird concepts, fans pick up what they pick up

    the black mamba MV is full of references from it, wasn't all SM artists supposed to be in kwangya that was a virtual world or something...

    ok I found it, it was the SMCU universe, I guess it all fell down when Lee Soo Man left, talk about 20 years of failed time and resources.....

    With Lee Soo Man(e) gone, that def. changed the direction and trajectory of all that. I believe the group is in year 5 of their 7 year priority cycle. So, it will be interesting to see if SME will move on or build onto the whole concept.

    I remember someone in this forum made a thread likening their concept to prostitution (and it was allowed to go on for several pages). I have been into / known about kpop for 15 years and I've never ever seen any group get so much hatred and vitriol before and at debut like Aespa did.

    Kpop fans have tried to sabotage aespa since the debut


    - people were going around claming that SM will make a hotel where the AI and the girls image would be use in hotel room, and were trying to implicitly say that aespa and the AI will be use for prostitution for rich old man in this hotel

    - they were saying that people will use them for doing deepfake on website like p***hub


    Then they tried to say that the AI were created in collaboration with a chinese company which is involved in the yghur forced labor and people were saying that for this reason everybody should cancel aespa
