I mean, any group under a big 4 label really... didn't. They "leeched" off the resources and power of the label to push them.
Again, no kpop groups are a plucky group of friends starting in their garage, doing it tough in local gigs at dingy bars and nightclubs, building an audience on social media from literally nothing for years before getting discovered and blowing up.By the very nature of being manufactured, focus group tested, designed and shaped by committee, every big group has gotten where they are through the power and success of those that came before.
But also...

A lot of Carats will fight tooth and nail to say Seventeen has done it with no help from pledis
K-Pop Groups that are doing things on their own, but just debuted (so not totally mind blowing successful yet):
Nomad - their own company, their own work, yes they also seek outside help
Anode - Mystic Story Producing duo
AVION - Gallery Music Production Producers and JN Entertainment Founder
K-Pop group who started with nothing made a name for themselves after nearly disbanding, was given rights and created their own company for all things related to them: Infinite

IU (for sure) , BOA (paved way for kpop in Japan) , Akmu (talent), Psy(his song just come out of nowhere)

what does one mean leeching off the success of others?
most groups that debuted from a company which had prior debutees - one could argue "leeched" off others but why does one call it leeching? is using the resources of the company built upon those who came before you leeching?
my parents provided me with food and expenses and accommodation whilst I studied at uni - is that "leeching"
every group uses resources to debut and those resources must come from somewhere - investment, loans or prior success of one's seniors and if a group is successful (ie. output > input) the company continues along and eventually debuts new trainees...If one isn't successful (ie. inputs < output) well that's a sure path to disbandment
