Why is it so hard for 4th gen to become like BTS and BLACKPINK

I am vibing 95% of the time

Lots of factors play here. I say aespa has a big chance if SM does it right. They are in upward trajectory
Also, BTS and BP main strong point is their huge fanbase + solo power. The group and each member alone attract multiple fans each time. Companies really need to work on the individual solo power more. This is why I think aespa has the biggest chance in 4th gen, their solo power give me the vibes of BPs which is a good sign.

BTS and Blackpink had the advantage of being active during the rising popularity of kpop in the west, their music was easy to market in America and Korea simultaneously, plus their fandoms are very loyal and big. I don't think any of the 4th gen groups have a chance of being as big as BTS and Blackpink, you just can't compete with them.

right place right time
kpop was getting big but there was still room for something bigger, this is where BTS and BP came in
you needed the first two generation to lay the foundation for the third. it's going to take at least 2 more generation for other groups to fill in the vacuum BTS and BP will leave

There are tons of reasons, but the main ones are:
Right place, right time, good music
+Some members have sex appeal
.

I will add that during the rise of BTS and BP - they had a more western focused outlook which drew them a lot of fans internationally
their rise was also benefited by the fact that there weren't many 2nd gen groups to compete with whereas for the 4th gen they not only have to compete against their "peers" in the fourth - they also have to compete against their seniors like BP/BTS

ı think it is mostly because of timing. I think the distinguishing feature of BTS and BP is that they have large fan bases outside of Asia, in Western countries such as brazil and usa. that times there weren't active and strong fanbase in west. exo's songs were too diverse for foreigners on the other hand bigbang were not that active in social media and in korea. when it comes to blackpink there were gfriend and twice but g friend couldn't appeal western fans because of their concept on the other hand twice's multiple members formula was distracting for western fans. in the end kpop industry was empty and with the power of social media, BTS and BP gained rapid popularity. before blackpink and bts, even the most popular groups didn't have huge western fans as bts and bp. but now is different kpop industry has reached a certain saturation with social media, plus current groups are not able to become a dominant force.

A lot of people are mentioning luck and right place, right time, which I agree.
Another factor is that there's no room for another huge group. Imo it's very difficult for a newer group to surpass their big sister group (if they were very successful themselves) from the same company when they're still active.
2ne1 disbanded a little after bp's debut which now gives them space to grow. The same thing happened with Wonder girls.
We also all know SM abandons the older groups for the newer ones, even if they don't disband.
f(x) were obviously successful but they never surpassed snsd, the same thing with itzy. That's why when BM debuted I knew they wouldn't be as big as BP, because BP are still active and breaking records.
The thing about 4th gen is that the companies are focusing on the western market but the 4th gen groups aren't even dominating S. Korea. There isn't one huge group in Korea, just several big groups but no one became as big as Twice or Snsd at their prime to be given the title of the Nation's GG. Same thing with bg, there's no 4th gen bg to even come close to exo, bb or bts.
BTS and BP were already really big in Korea and Asia before entering the western market.
