Should BTS cancel their contracts with HYBE?

  • Should BTS cut ties with HYBE and cancel their contracts with them? 71

    1. Yes (55) 77%
    2. No (16) 23%

I'm keeping this simple and won't yap.

BTS need to get away from HYBE. Any association with that dumpster fire organization is beyond negative.

The same way HYBE dumped Garam from LSF after her bullying scandal is EXACTLY what BTS should do to HYBE.

I don't know how any fan would want otherwise, but I'll poll anyway

  • I don't know what they SHOULD do, but I do know I would not want my faves under this company. I can't imagine anyone would. In fact I'm not even sure who is defending them at this point, because I figured it was just stans of HYBE groups. But how could you possibly justify the things they've done? I shudder to think it, but it appears company stans may actually be a real thing :huuh:

Go to reddit. You won't see any threads because the HYBE cultists masquerading as mods are deleting all the threads and posts on this. And the Megathread itself is full of people defending these comments. The most I've seen them admit is that "oh yeah well all the big labels do this! Why only focus on HYBE?!"

That's right. Even in this public humiliation the HYBE stans are using whataboutism

Yea I already took a look earlier and after today I'm not even sure I'll look at the reddit megathread anymore. They are so keen on continuing their hate train against NewJeans that they keep managing to reach a new low anytime something against HYBE comes out. But today it's really at its worst.

I've never wanted NewJeans out of that company more

LSF too, but they are attached to BSH sadly.

  • HBYE? Their company is Bighit, technically, and it's pretty much their own company.

It's like RBW for Mamamoo. I don't think they need to start their own companies. It's just a waste of money.

Yes :!: Look at the BP members reaching new heights of success outside the K-pop bubble :/ BTS will only hold Themselves back staying in HYBE. HYBE have nothing left to offer BTS other than drama and nonsense imo it’s a sinking ship!

They're only reaching new heights, because of Blackpink brand, not because of their own agencies.

When the hype of both BTS and BP brand will start to fade away, they won't produce massive numbers anymore.

  • I won't comment on "should" because that ultimately depends on what they want. They only thing they "should" do is to consider it carefully. BTS definitely doesn't "need" HYBE, but another angle we have to consider is what are the consequences of cutting ties with HYBE? With everything that's been coming out about how HYBE treats their competitors, how do you think they'll treat their biggest cash cow(s) leaving? I'm willing to bet that as soon as they do, you'll start seeing thinly veiled hitpiece articles and leaked videos.

HYBE is so bad at PR and manipulating the public that it would just backfire anyway, and their biggest weapon, international ARMY, would become their biggest enemies overnight.

I'd like to share your optimism that HYBE will actually crumble longterm because of this, I really would. But history shows that the public is forgetful. How many company scandals in the past just get forgotten?

No company has ever been publicly outed for such ugly comments and actions against other artists and labels like HYBE. Not to mention the war they launched against the biggest active girl group in the industry today and their producer/executive. All of this is completely unprecedented

HYBE is already on the wrong side of history, and they're just cementing their placement at this point.

I pray for a resolution that ends in NJs favor soon.

Also it's great that users in the reddit megathread have a "Top Commenter" flare so you can immediately see the HYBE stans :meme-kek:

I just go to reddit to laugh at this point

  • Their permanence in that company would mean a clear support to the company and their unethical ways to do bussiness. If they stay we all be abgle to see what would be the moral of the group. I remember RM once talk about Kpop as a industry run by people who work very hard to improve themselves. In his idea of improvement was include all the shit Hybe had done?

  • I dislike Hybe but why would they leave the company when other big idols are still signed to labels that were involved with much worse scandals???

If BTS should leave Hybe, it has to be a much worse situation than a wide common industry tactic like overshipping albums

Because HYBE has become a national embarrassment and their reputation is in the bottom of the gutter and draining directly into the sewers.

The sajaegi is bad enough, but the dehumanizing and overtly sexual comments they made about other idols and labels is horrendous.

I don't know if I've seen a label speedrun the utter destruction of their own reputation, and the sad thing is they did it to themselves.

The company culture is also so toxic that HYBE employees were emboldened enough to call Jungkook an idiot on Blind as well.

Why would any fan want their idols to stay in this dumpster fire of a company run by ungrateful, exploitative idiots?

I'm telling you this now. If I saw RBW Employees talking shit about Mamamoo, who built that company up from nothing into essentially a HYBE-Lite, I'd be begging the girls to leave.

That's what is so bizarre to me. I have seen and experienced and supported a group that rose from nothing to legends. Their company building upgraded from a below ground compound, that I actually visited, to a multi story sky scraper, yet I would never equate RBW to Mamamoo.

    It doesn't make sense.

  • They just renewed with BigHit and the company already has a plan for them in 2025. They'll mostly be with them for the following years since it won't be easy to just cancel their contracts. The 3rd renewal talks will definitely be harder for them and I'll support them if they decided make their own label or sign with new a company.

How long are the new contracts?

Because at this rate, I don't see HYBE surviving once BTS move on.

  • I wish they did/do. Many armys here have been pissed off at hybe since BE fiasco and wished they didn't renew. Sadly, that didn't happen. 90% of those arnys aren't active anymore (they either left or they got banned). Hybe doesn't deserve bts and doesn't deserve armys.

I'm actually torn. They are trash company but it seems they are satisfied with the way they've been treated. And to add one selfish reason: if they left that would slow down their comeback and I don't want that lol

  • 2027. If it doesn't survive GOOD, trash companies should stop existing.

If they leave in 2027 i hope they establish their own company and bring stuff they've been together with then since the start with them.

Well I hope the surviving AKP ARMY understand I don't wish any ill on BTS nor do I see HYBE as an extension of them in any way. Just like BLACKPINK don't need YG to thrive, BTS DEFINITELY doesn't need HYBE.

I would LOVE to see them all walk out the door and leave this shit show behind

Some users here do think and wish for their downfall. Some armys think that as well which is why they are defending hybe so passionately. Even after the way suga was treated, where hybe again showed their lack of care and incompetence, they still defend them. You can't defend your artist and stop speeding fake news, but you can respond immediately when your ceo was "attacked" with truth.

Trash company can only have trash company stans.

I'll always be on artists' side. Even jk, who is supposedly loyal to hybe, publicly supported newjeans. Congrats to him, I'm sure it wasn't easy. Or maybe it was and he doesn't care about what corporation thinks. He/they'll do well without them just fine.

  • Weren’t there rumors of some members not wanting to resign early? I could be mistaken but rumour was Tae and/or Jin and Suga wanted not to hurry into contract negotiations.

With JHope joining Jin now, I would like to see them throw some of their power around and start doing a clean out from top to bottom of the utter incompetence festering in Hybe. The last Festa Dinner in 2022 left me with a feeling like they all were not happy with decisions that were made with little to no imput from them.

If JK is speaking out, I would assume and I could be wrong that he didn’t go rouge on this and had backing from other members, especially RM

After their next comeback and tour in 2025-2026, I just don't see them being active that much as a group, so I don't mind if they don't renew when it comes to solo contracts. They will be a 13-year-old group by 2025 so they'll obviously want to focus on their solo career as well.

They surely have a strong bond with the members but its really the time to focus on solo, they are at the right age to release more solo stuff and focusing on that area, i don't want them to waste their prime time for more group project

That's fine. Finish their next album and tour and then they can do whatever they like:)

The question was should they cancel their contract, and my vote goes to no.

I don’t get a loyalty vibe from JK to Hybe. I think out of any of the members, JK rebels in some very public ways, starting with their break in 2019 with the hand tattoos and then the full on sleeve which really was a way of expressing his own philosophy/creed separate from BTS. Of course he drives a Harley, values artists and creatives over the whole institution of being an idol, wanted to produce and write from an early age.

I didn't know that rumor. Hopefully, things get sorted out especially in the higher ups.

For Jungkook, he just said his opinion. He doesn't necessarily always need the approval of the other members. :pepe-life-support:

BangPD couldn't even directly ask Jungkook why wasn't he invited to his album showcase. It will always make me laugh ngl :pepe-hehe:
