I miss the Kpop with melodic sound

This is funny because I guess I've only mostly been exposed to the noise music in kpop. But a few weeks ago I listened to GFRIEND for the first time ever and have been addicted to their discography. And some Apink songs as well. Just much different than most of the kpop I've listened to. I now find myself longing for a time in kpop I never even experienced lol.

I don't think Blackpink's song should be here, it's nothing like what you're missing.

You can find the same type of song nowadays as well, but most of those are not mainstream. Apink will have a comeback next year, btw.

I think Fifty Fifty will go this route. But I might be wrong. I may misunderstand but isn't NJ and Illit melodic? Kiss of life? I confess that I don't know all of the groups but I think we do have groups with great melodies. I don't exactly get your wish but I am curious about what you are searching for.

I don't like this trend either, from my own experience what I can say is that we still find some more melodic songs but in the b-sides, or in certain unknown groups. I've been mostly turning to soloist listening in recent years where many of them haven't still followed this trend.

Totally agree. Music like early Gfriend, WJSN, Lovelyz and Oh My Girl is not made anymore and i miss it too. And u mean the orchestral kpop with violins etc.

I don’t think this is an especially 4th gen thing though. Dubstep was huge in the 2000s/2010s and a lot of choruses in kpop then were ultra electronic and oontz oontz oontz sounding.
