Who do you think is the quintessential SM kpop group?

SNSD?

I was never into SM groups during first generation so it's Girls' Generation during the second for me.

SNSD is the quintessential kpop group

Even tho I think EXO is the best they've always felt the least "SM" of their big groups to me (probably why I like them the most by far). I voted for SNSD because they were the flagship SM group for so long and because Taeyeon is still the SM idol in SK after all these years.

NCT does seem to embody the SM philosophy more than any other group, but they're so unpopular in SK compared to every other SM bg so it felt weird to vote for them.

It's gotta be SNSD, but I voted for Aespa

Imo FX. The best female rapper in sm, arguably one of the best vocalist in sm, strong dance line, and the maknae that wasnt afraid to express herself. Sorry but RV, Aespa, SNSD dont have a legit rap line. Their rap isnt even close to Amber’s rap. Edit: Lol this generation is delusional

Should be Red Velvet. Popular enough but not at the top, with consistent great songs plus quirky ones. SNSD is an anomaly for SM because I don’t see any SM group ever reach their level of influence and amazing popularity so SNSD is really not “quintessential” SM.

Red Velvet for GG and Exo for BG.

They're not the most iconic or influential or foundational

But I feel like they most encompass the total soundscape of SM as a company.

Like if I had to point to a group and say "SM sounds like that" it's SHINee

SNSD. They were basically the face of SM.
