Would you "forgive" a kpop artist for something they did like 10 years ago?

I mean depends on what they did? And if I cared enough

If they learned from their mistakes and changed, definitely! But if they're like Super Junior's Kangin and be constantly problematic? Heck nah!

I still mention the most famous photo of the singer who harmed KPop the most 11 years after the fact.

when it comes to racism/colorism/disrespecting religions, I have to think "is it even in my place to forgive". I am a black person, I don't think its my place to 'forgive' someone for mocking, lets say, SEA people. however if an idol is being constantly racist, I think you can safely say they're a shitty person.

when its a legal issue, I think there's a lot more nuance. if an artist was involved in something like burning sun, it just disgusts me and I don't see how anyone can forgive. however if they got sentenced/probation for weed, I don't see how it matters.

one cannot judge everything except according to the circumstances of the action...

if as you said the 7 year old punched another 7 year old and the victim suffered horrific injuries as a result then it might be harder to forgive...

Def. depends. I do believe in forgiving but not forgetting. If they keep making the same careless mistakes, I’d stop funking with them.

If it's something they did as a kid, apologized for and never did again then I'm not hold it against them.

I'm also not going to look down on people who want to cancel the person themselves but if they want me to cancel the idol too then that's not on the cards.

I consider:

1. There’s the actual ‘what they did’ - was it a crime? How many ppl were hurt as a result?

2. What have they done to demonstrate their remorse and that they HAVE changed?

Saying it’s been 10 years and I have change with nothing to show….that is a no go. But nuance and these two criteria aren’t what everyone uses - some ppl. Don’t care

Depends on the crime. SA crime I just can’t look them the same ever. Some other crimes I may jot care after some years like say tax fraud or something lol.

Things like saying something wrong or committing faux pas I never care.
