is it the end of 4th gen girl group trajectory?

  • yeah I found if very hypocritical too when 4th gen stans used to do the same lol the cycle repeats itself lol

  • We're in the plateau era. None of the current 4th gen GG's will break much further heights. Even Newjeans and Ive are done in their 'explosive' growth era.

They will now be in a sort of stable phase with region to region growth and fandom expansion through touring, promotions etc. All 4th gen groups have likely experienced the biggest hits they will have in their careers so far and the next 1-3 years will be mostly minor growth or regression.

NewJeans have capped out in Korea because there is actually NOTHING else they can do there that they haven't already done. They own pretty much every meaningful statistical record already, and no other girl group comes close. You legitimately couldn't have a better year than they did in 2023.

But globally? There is still tons of room for growth. They can still get even bigger in the U.S., and without a single official promotion or Japanese language single, they have the most popular songs in Japan, which is another market they can still grow immensely in.

This is still just the beginning for NewJeans' growth, and you shouldn't underestimate the ambition of their CEO.

True, they do not want to be stuck like IU.

Dominating little Korea, but virtually unknown to the outside world.

  • because its safe to say that every girl group comeback so far have been underwhelming. itzy is not even charting anymore, gidle and lesserafim not hitting top 5 melon (tho its too early to say about lesserafim). IVE english single also is making no noise. with the rise of 5th gen boygroup, is it indicating that the 4th gen girl group trajectory is coming to end, with only NJ being the last one standing?

    itzy put Lia in prison

    gidle sold many albums

lsrm will take #1 spot, just wait

IVE is not so popular abroad, that is why

  • In Korea, maybe. Internationally? No, not yet.

There's a lot more that 4th gen girl groups can achieve outside of Korea and that's what companies need to aim for.

I want them to consolidate the fanbase and set up for massive touring and collab opportunities, and when they settle down a bit more in the future I hope they have the financial freedom to just be artistic and creative as they wish. The commercial stuff is already in the bag

  • Is this true?

TXT, IZ*ONE and IVE are the only 4th generation groups to have Japanese language songs that reached 1 million streams on MelOn.
