I finally checked them out and though they are fine, they are probably the least visual SM group since before Shinee. The latter and EXO were peak of SM's visuals with NCT127 close behind.
But with Riize them seem to have went back to TVXQ, SuJu, where they have a clear visual member, a literal Jaejoong knock off in this case, and bunch of average members complementing him. There is even a dude that looks like Eunhyuk
They split their debut ready bg talents between Riize and NCT's Japanese sub-unit. They needed vocalists and visuals in both.
Jaejoong knock offs seem like they're just gonna be a staple of SM bgs from now on
Riize doesn't have the (polished?) model like visuals that exo and NCT have, but a more widely appealing late 90s boy band look. It's probably better this way, male visuals and male idols overall don't blow up the way they used to.
Id say it's more half and half instead of one stand out tho
Jaejoong was SM Entertainment's first love. Now they have at least one member who resembles him in every generation.
