Overlapping comebacks: is that a typical SM thing or?

I noticed that Red Velvet and Aespa are having comebacks within a week from eachother?

Not the first time this happens, in fact this has happened a lot that SM groups are having overlapping comebacks. Seems they don't care if their groups have comebacks at the same time.

Which makes me wonder: is this only an SM thing, or do other companies also have their groups frequently come back at or around the same time?

I kinda like it, because it's great to see the groups interact with eachother like on encore stages. At a first thought though it'd make more sense to me to not have your groups' comebacks interfere with eachother.

That's the impression I was getting too. I was just wondering whether other companies let their groups' comebacks overlap too a lot of times, or rarely/never.

I guess it makes sense that they won't care about comeback overlap then.

I can still recall how when SNSD were at their peak, a number of other companies rescheduled their groups' comebacks so they wouldn't come back at the same time as SNSD.

But I guess if it doesn't have a negative impact anyway, then it makes sense they don't mind it when their groups come back at the same time.

My guess is they see comebacks as promotions and marketing, and they make the majority of their money from brand deals, touring, album sales, CFs and appearances etc

I suspect hitting number 1 on the charts is less important for big company groups as they don't need it to be successful like smaller company groups do.

Like the majority of solo SM releases aren't really super successful from a charting or music show wins perspective but they still churn them out anyway. The money must be coming in somehow.

I agree, they don't seem to care about some of the stuff that other companies seem to care about. Whether that's a good thing or smart... maybe in some cases, but in other situations I think it'd be better to care more. Building up a brand or goodwill, those can pay off in indirect or longterm ways => and those can result in higher revenues.
