South Korea’s extremely declining birth rate may have something to do with it

There are a lot (Former idols).
The internet is weird.

The industry is cutthroat.
Even just being married can ruin some people's careers. Just look at Jiyeon. I remember her being one of the most famous 2nd gen artists despite the drama that happened with her group, and she said after she got married, all her offers dried up.
Sis is only 30. Like two years older than Nayeon. Same age as IU. Don't even MENTION having a baby.
I think most KPOP stars want their career longevity to last as long as possible, so they probably won't get married/start a family until their mid to late 30s. If they do at all. You see that with a lot of actresses too. You have to have legendary status like Kim Tae Hee and Jun Ji-hyun to be able to get married, have kids, and still play the female leading roles. And even then, Tae Hee has been relegated to playing wife and mother roles.
I'm still waiting for Sooyoung to finally get married and have kids. She's been with her man for like 10 years now, but to have a family, your career basically needs to be able to withstand the image change once you're married. And to have children, you need to be ready not to work for like a good year.
Even more so with KPOP stars who have more physically focused jobs than actresses. Especially if you want to continue actively touring.
2nd gen JUST started getting married. I think we have at least 5 years before we see most 3rd gen group members (whose careers have not already stalled), start to get married. Maybe even 10 years for the top performers and earners.

because they get booted if they do get pregnant. is either your career or being a mother in the industry.
-
ignoring the idol thing and what comes with that, south korea also happens to have the lowest birth rate in the world.

Despite the difficulties faced by women in this industry, we should bear in mind that not every woman wants to get married and have children.

I really wonder if many have fertility issues because of the lifestyles and weights they had to maintain as idols

This is probably the most likely reason. Being severely underweight, like most idols, can make ovulation and periods cease until the body becomes healthy again.

Funny thread but I think OP already knows the answer and merely wanted to see the responses.
South Korea’s extremely declining birth rate may have something to do with it
that didn't stop multiple married male idols with some being dads now. Funny that reminds me that some of them were even shotgun marriages
