SM survival show is exactly what you would expect of SM

  • ✨️Exclusively SM idols as judges, mentors and guests

    ✨️Exclusively SM songs for missions

✨️No lacking moment when it comes to singing, I am so used to every survival show having some really bad vocal moments here and there, but there were none here. Astounding

✨️Dancing abilities on another level, synchronization is there!!!

✨️Rapping took backseat once again, we don't mind that

    ✨️Visuals

    ✨️Questionable outfits

✨️Fans are NOT voting, SM stopped pretense of them caring about fans opinions long ago. Mentors are doing all the job

✨️ Criticism mentors and guest stars make is valid and they actually know what they are talking about

✨️ No need for evil editing as we are ✨️SM family ✨️

✨️EXO being invited and filling yearly quota of pissing off kpop fans with simple and truthful statements

✨️Hard to access and watch on normal sites which leads us to our last point

✨️Hardly anyone is watching it. People don't know it exists lol

I wouldn't know for this show if Xiumin wasn't invited which leads to my favorite cover in whole show

I am also slightly confused why they don't have one episode dedicated to only covering nct songs? Or they do? These guys will be part of nct unit acterall, I think there should have been more nct... them missing out this show also makes sense as nothing in sm makes sense.

So anyway this is another stage I have liked

  • I don't see the point of that show at all lel

I can hardly imagine that it's gonna benefit NCT or the chosen members in any way.

There are 10 trainees, I like smaller numbers as they can all have more screen time and all that but idk... just debut them all wth :skull:

I also don't know what was the point of this survival show but I always knew sm will have one sooner or later and I knew it will be in their own fashion lol

  • Wow, they're good

I'm happy SM isn't pretending the public can choose the members, companies always want produce/planet popularity, but don't want to give the same produce/planet offers.

Overall I'm more into ggs and shows with trainees from diverse companies, so I'm not watching this show, but the performances made me curious.

  • I actually didn't watch the show because i'm not that much interested in BG survival show

but last time i had nothing to do and i think it's overall the survival show i enjoyed the most

The trainees works well together and they support each other

i'm glad i don't have too watch another survival show full of catfight because each person want this part even if they aren't skillfull enough to do it etc....

The level of these performances is really really high

i can't believe they have as much time to prepare for a performance as any other survival show

but you can see that SM training is really hard and different from other companies looking at how in such amount of time they are able to be so synchronize and such good singer on stage

Also In contrary of people i'm the type of person who values talent more than likebility and visual

so i find that it's a really good thing that people doesn't have to vote

we don't need a "sohye or Hyewon" situation in NCT where the members isn't talented at all but only get in the final lineup because people find them pretty or likeable

no thanks the goal is to bring more people who will be able to match NCT members skills, not to bring a deadweight

and also the judges are so on point in all their remarks which is something refreshing for a survival show in comparison of thee others

i was tired of judges only praising members who improve and not focusing on their flaws and telling them what to improve more to do better or ignoring the little details

which is something i didn't see here, even how their fingers move is such a small little details, but that judges were able to notice and comment on it to help members to improve

only problem is that 90% of these boys are actually enough talented to debut right now because they already look like pro on stage

soit's actually quite sad to know that most of them will probably leave SM once the show is over if they are not part of the lineup and i'm really really sad about it because they aare such gem who will probably never debut

And SM should add one more member to the lineup 6 is not enough i need 7

  • Also i want to highlight that something i find really cool that SM did through this show is..

recognize the older trainees effort and skills and giving to Yushi and Sion their spot in the lineup right away

i'm tired of these companies who keep their trainee for 5-6 years and after so much effort still put them to compete with trainees who are here for less than a year to win their spot in the debut lineup

and see these people getting their effort wasted and never debut after so many years just because the public might have prefer a 15yo girl who looks cuter than the other one

  • Wow, they're good

Yeah, drama makes survival shows more interesting but there is hardly any here. They all just like, fanboy, respect and support each other. Even trainees among themselves get along very well.

So I am just watching performances and some cuts I find on twitter or tiktok. I am definitely not investing myself in this but I do like to see this much talent in one place ngl.

    This stage is also good

  • Do you know how many members final line up will have?

~ Retired exol, don't ask me about that group. ~

  • i'm currently at episode 5 and i didn't see any evil editing at all

where di you see it ?

You haven't noticed the consistently overly dramatic differences between the very final rehearsal and the actual performance right afterwards, Daeyoung's dancing limitations are also kept out of the edit as much as possible.

that's not evil editing at all -_-

evil editing means edit the footage in a way to make someone appear bad so people turn their back on them to support someone else

  • So, I finally found the time to check these performances out

I hope the judges and guests are at least telling them to work on their facial expressions? I know they are still trainees and probably still didn't get over the novelty of performing on stage in front of an audience, but the facial expressions are very lacking and the delivery emotionless imo.

  • Daeyoung's dancing limitations are also kept out of the edit as much as possible.

I don't think that is evil editing? Jus dramatic editing imo :melon_think:

also this roger user is wrong

Daeyoung dancing limitations aren't kept out of the edit at all

there's literally a scene of Boa telling him that he's a good singer, but looks like an amateur when dancing

Yeah, they tell them that every performance.

there's literally a scene of Boa telling him that he's a good singer, but looks like an amateur when dancing

That's one scene. And Minjae was ranked 10th for lacking in dancing despite his singing being acknowledged as absolutely crucial to the performance, Daeyoung was ranked 4th of similiarly having crucial singing ability but not great dancing. Later that episode Daeyoung and Minjae again dance together, the camera moves away from Daeyoung and only Ten's comments on Minjae's dancing make the editing cut.

Also Daeyoung is new but not nearly as new a trainee as Ryu. He only joined after the first 4 performances not genuinely because Eunhyuk in the middle of a review made the call to see if they can find a vocalist to add. They knew he was gonna be added from day 1. Every episode he missed the editors were free to highlight the limitations of the rest to build the narrative that Daeyoung is was the lineup needs without having him just be there to show through the actual strength of his performances. It is exactly what you define evil editing as.

  • And Minjae was ranked 10th for lacking in dancing despite his singing being acknowledged as absolutely crucial to the performance, Daeyoung was ranked 4th of similiarly having crucial singing ability but not great dancing. Later that episode Daeyoung and Minjae again dance together, the camera moves away from Daeyoung and only Ten's comments on Minjae's dancing make the editing cut.

The only reason there were harsher on Minjae and madde him 10th was because Minjae have been training for 2 years and still lacking confidence and skills in dance

while Daeyoung have been training for 3 months and could actually catch up to Minjae pretty quickly

that's why they they were less harsh on his dancing skills because they understood that he didn't have the training necessary yet to get at the level of other trainees like Sion, Jungmin, Yushi etc.. who have been training for almost one year or more

while Minjae is one of the oldest trainee among the 10 trainees and still lacking a lot

and i'm not even trying to defend daeyoung because i'm not objective or at all, because i actually hope that he doesn't end up in the final lineup because they need more japanese than koreans members and with Jungmin and Sion pretty much sure to debut it's enough for me in term of koreans

and Jungmin is a good vocalist enough to be main vocal so daeyoung isn't really needed

  • With Ryu in the first judgement it was the exact opposite. He did well and made a good impression but ranked very low even though neither he nor Jungmin did any dancing one way or the other at all. His placement reflected how much adjusting is still ahead of him having been in the country for only two weeks. The judges didn't much care for how Jungmin handled his song of choice but he's got three years of practicing kpop songs and choreos. Their standings reflected this.

  • So, I finally found the time to check these performances out
