so is this basically Hybe's version of A2K????
Kinda but A2K is mostly North American not so much global though I do think the goal is still a global GG for A2K.

HYBE killing it. RU Next will likely debut next year too. Any chance of global boy group from HYBE?

I don't think they are planning it yet
The next BGs scheduled are Pledis BG and Bighit BG, also Ador is already working on their Boygroup which will need some years to create
I think they will try a male version if this group succeeds

I saw a desi girl

What were the age requirements of the girls to audition?

I barely hear anything about A2K...is this JYPE's new American GG? If so, have episodes of the survival show started yet?

This group is going to hit the big time. There is rumor that their vocals are outstanding, not just very good at a boy/girl group level. All they need is a token Chinese and Japanese member and they are set, so they can also promote in China and Japan.

I tried tonwatch R U Next and hinestly it's pretty boring. The lives are heavily edited, we can't listen their voices properly. Reminds me a lot of I Land

I really have to give it to HYBE, they know what they are doing. Are you paying attention JYP? When we talk about localizations, THIS is what we mean. Not only is the diversity much more visible (there are girls on there that aren't just a very light tan that you can cake in Korean make up 2 shades to bright to match their tone), but if you showed me this without prior knowledge it was meant to be a Kpop survival show, I might have just assumed it was some Western coming of age performance project or something.
This feels very natural, very sincere compares to A2K. It's not just trying to force this mask of Kpop onto Westerners (that sort of thing can work for Japan with NiziU, but for the West, A2k just feels very cringe and forced), instead, HYBE is actually using the Western culture and bringing aspects of Kpop to IT, not the other way around. It's blending, not assimilating.
I'm not a HYBE Stan, but I can understand why they do so well with all their groups they push in the West. It's because they respect their Western audience and try to do what works in the market. Again, this always feels like it should be common sense, but so many Kpop companies just try to force Kpop into the West without any regards to what's actually preferable in the market. And then they get surprised when their projects don't do as well.

I'll be rooting for the Nordic girl.

Hybe does its market research. They know what works and what doesn't.
If you pack westerners in a group, as opposed to asians, its more likely that people in western countries will embrace the group. It just is what is it is. People, in this case teens, are more likely to identify with and idolise others similar to or slightly order than themselves.

eh that's nothing in the grand scheme of things. i was talking about the promotion aspect of a survival show which RUNext truly failed but it doesn't mean the GG made from it will flop. If they have high quality debut like LSRF and New Jeans, they'll be fine.
